Former Iowa State defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim has committed to Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Onyedim had 33 tackles in the middle of the Cyclones defense this past fall and he was a mainstay in the trenches for Iowa State the last three seasons.

Onyedim also had strong interest from Notre Dame, SMU and Texas among others.

This is a big pickup for head coach Mike Elko and the Aggies load up on the defensive front.

Onyedim is a traitsy interior player and will team up with Albert Regis and David DJ Hicks on the inside.  Texas A&M has also had some big wins this Transfer Portal cycle at defensive end with Dayon Hayes one of the best players at the position in the portal coming over by way of Colorado and Pittsburgh, T.J. Searcy from Florida and Samuel M’Pemba from Georgia.

Onyedim is a Lone Star State native and played his high school football at Foster High in Richmond.

On3 tabs Onyedim as the No. 15 ranked defensive lineman in the Transfer Portal. He registered 90 tackles, 11.5 coming for loss and three sacks to date with one year of eligibility remaining.
