Texas A&M vs. Tennessee Preview

Tennessee comes into Sunday as heavy favorites to win the SEC Tournament crown, but there isn’t a team in the country that has caught fire from out of nowhere quite like Buzz Williams’ Texas A&M Aggies.

Williams’ team is averaging 77 points per outing and have no intentions of slowing down. After a three-point overtime victory over Florida, the Aggies controlled the No. 1 seeded Auburn Tigers for 40 minutes before completely dominating Arkansas in one of their worst performances of the season. Can they catch Tennessee off guard, too?

It’s not just one player either, it’s the whole team that has caught fire. Since the SEC Tournament began, Quenton Jackson has averaged 17 points per game, Henry Coleman with 16, Tyrece Radford with 14.3 and Hassan Diarra with 9.6 per outing — all higher than their regular season averages.

Tennessee is just as hot, however. They’re 11-1 in their last 12 with their lone loss to Arkansas 58-48 on the road in February. The Volunteers kicked that stretch off with a 90-80 victory over the Aggies in Knoxville that saw five different Tennessee players score in double figures.
