Joni Taylor has 'no thoughts' on LSU game getting chippy
The third quarter of Monday night’s women’s basketball game between Texas A&M and LSU got a little chippy.
Following a near block by LSU star Angel Reese on Aggies forward Maliyah Johnson, words were exchanged and players had to be separated.
Texas A&M women’s basketball coach Joni Taylor was asked about the chippiness after the game.
“I mean, I think any time you’ve got high level intensity and energy, some things like that can happen,” Joni Taylor said. “I thought both teams did a pretty good job of, you know, trying to talk about it, have a conversation about it, but not let it go too far. No thoughts on it.”
Reese was called for a foul on the play and ended up being assessed a technical. However, it didn’t matter.
LSU went on to earn a dominant 81-58 victory. The Tigers led 36-14 at halftime and never looked back.
Angel Reese finished the game with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Aneesah Morrow led the way for the Tigers with 25 points and 15 boards.
LSU improved to 22-4 (9-3) with the win. The Aggies fell to 17-8 (5-7) with the loss.
Up next, LSU will host Auburn on Thursday. Texas A&M returns to action on Thursday against Arkansas.

Kim Mulkey reflects on local fan support in Texas
LSU secured their fourth-straight win on Monday night when they defeated Texas A&M on the road in a dominant 81-58 win in the Lone Star State. A state that head coach Kim Mulkey is more than familiar with winning basketball games in.
Mulkey spent 21 seasons as the head coach of Baylor before joining the Tigers in 2021, but the support for her in the state of Texas still exists. As she spoke about her ties to Texas from her family and beyond following Monday’s game.
“I have to tell you, I somewhat forgot how close I was to my grand-babies, and they showed up and I went duh. It’s like Mom, you didn’t realize we were coming to spend the night with you?” Mulkey said recalling a conversation with her daughter. “And I was like I really forgot. It’s an hour away, an hour and 10 minutes, whatever. So just being able to sleep with them and have them around me yesterday and today.”
Mulkey won three national championships, 12 Big 12 regular season titles, 11 Big 12 tournament titles, and 632 total games during her tenure at Baylor. Which includes a multitude of wins in Reed Arena over the Aggies.
