Texas coach Steve Sarkisian visiting 5-star Oklahoma commit Michael Fasusi
Several Texas football coaches have hit the recruiting trail this weekend while the Longhorns are on a bye week, including head coach Steve Sarkisian.
Sarkisian was at Lewisville (Texas) High School on Friday to watch Oklahoma five-star offensive tackle commit Michael Fasusi’s game against Denton (Texas) Guyer.
Fasusi has been committed to Oklahoma since Aug. 21, however, the likes of Texas and Texas A&M have continued to show interest in the elite pass protector. When Fasusi committed, he told On3 that Texas A&M finished No. 2 in his commitment with the Longhorns coming in third.
The 6-foot-5, 299-pound Fasusi is the nation’s No. 13 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 offensive tackle and No. 6 recruit from Texas in the class.
On3’s scouting and rankings team writes this about Fasusi as a prospect.
“Physical offensive lineman with natural brute strength and developmental upside. Measured in at 6-foot-5, 299 pounds with 9.75-inch hands at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has plus length for the position, with arms that measure 34 ⅞ inches. Has a barrel-chested build. Added significant size during the off-season between his sophomore and junior years. Spends most of his time as a left tackle, but has also played some on the right side. A bull in the run game. Latches onto defensive linemen and keeps his feet moving on contact. Gets a considerable push at the point of attack. Plays with an edge and works to finish blocks with authority.

“Showed encouraging improvement on the field as a junior, adding play strength. A solid overall athlete with upside to continue improving as a pass protector. Can improve lateral agility and balance. Has a tendency to lunge and get off balance when facing college level prospects in the camp setting. Also participates in track and field, sporting a personal best throw of 51-8.75 feet in the shot put as a junior, a strong mark. Ability in the run game gives him a high floor with the positional versatility to play tackle or guard long-term. Ultimate ceiling will be determined by his continued improvement in pass protection, but the upside is there.”
More on a busy bye week for Texas coaches
According to Inside Texas’ Charlie Williams, several Longhorns coaches are on the road visiting recruits during the team’s off week.
Defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, co-defensive coordinator Johnny Nansen, running backs coach Tashard Choice, defensive line coach Kenny Baker, defensive backs coach Terry Joseph and assistant coach Chris Gilbert are all expected to visit top Texas targets this weekend.
