The nation's No. 1 ATH Michael Terry III picks Texas
San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights four-star Michael Terry III announced his commitment to Texas on Wednesday morning.
The blue-chipper chose the Longhorns over Nebraska and also strongly considered Oregon and Texas A&M earlier in his process.
“Being on a high-developed team, I can see myself being there and developing myself there,” Terry said.
The On3 Industry ranks the 6-foot-2 1/2, 211-pound Terry as the nation’s No. 1 athlete and No. 44 prospect overall. He has a skillset that would allow him to play running back, receiver, h-back or on the edge on the next level. He looks forward to making an impact in head coach Steve Sarkisian’s offensive attack.
“Really how they run their offense,” Terry said. “How they’re so advanced in their play calls and stuff.
“Also every time I went to visit there it was a family culture. I always felt welcome there.”
From Sarkisian to offensive coordinator AJ Milwee to running backs coach Tashard Choice, Terry felt the love from the staff. He adds to a terrific Longhorns class that is on track to finish in the top five.

“Growing up I always loved the Longhorns,” Terry said. “They were a big part of my family. My family liked the Longhorns too. It’s right down the road. My family gets to come to all my games.”
Scouting new Texas signee commit Michael Terry
The On3 Scouting Department provides this breakdown.
“True do-it-all football player who could project at a high level at upwards of four or five positions at the next level. Has lined up as a receiver, running back, quarterback and cornerback for his high school team. Measured at 6-foot-2.5, 211 pounds with 32 ⅛-inch arms and 9-inch hands at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season.
“Registers as a strong athlete in track and field posting 6-4 foot high jump and a 11.05 second mark in the 100 meters. Transfers that athleticism to the field, where he is one of the more impactful jumbo athletes in the cycle on Friday nights. Shows good patience and athleticism as a big running back. Good ability after the catch as a receiver. Rushed for nearly 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, also accounting for over 500 receiving yards and 10 more scores as a junior. Could potentially grow into a jack of all trades offensive weapon capable of lining up in the backfield, split out as a receiver or as an H-Back.
“May have the highest true upside as a versatile back seven defender. Has a linebacker frame with corner athleticism and fluidity. Capable of impressive plays in coverage. Has true positional ambiguity but an extremely versatile and useful skill set, but will need to hone in on one position and add technical skill as he’s yet to focus at one spot.”
