Texas had a slew of elite prospects on The Forty Acres this weekend, including Buford (Ga.) four-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright. The strapping Peach State prospect continues to give the Longhorns a look as he works through his recruitment.

The 6-foot-1.5, 250-pounder was among the headlining recruits on campus for the big weekend. He got to spend plenty of time with head coach Steve Sarkisian, EDGE coach LaAllan Clark and the UT staff:

Texas is looking to make a move in Perry-Wright’s jam-packed recruitment, as it battles Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Miami, Texas A&M and others. He’s locked in a slew of official visits already, too, including a return trip to Austin for the weekend of June 13.

Perry-Wright is taking his process slow, previously telling On3 that he’s in no rush to come off the board:

“There is no date in mind for me. It will happen when God gives me the right time,” Perry-Wright said. “He will put it in my ear, so I will commit whenever the time is right.”

“On my list is a good education, strong relationships and player development,” he added. “I am not too worried about NIL. I want to play ball. If a school can develop me, the NIL/money will come.”

Perry-Wright is the No. 64 overall prospect and No. 10 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Georgia.

As a junior for Buford, one of the top high school football programs in Georgia, Perry-Wright tallied 57 total tackles and nine sacks, per MaxPreps. The Wolves finished the season with 12 wins and ranked as the No. 4 team in the state and No. 24 team nationally, according to the On3 Composite Rankings.

Looking at Texas’ 2026 recruiting class thus far

Sarkisian and his staff are still looking to flesh out the base of their 2026 recruiting class, which currently features just four commits and ranks No. 13 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage five-star quarterback Dia Bell is the class jewel, ranking as the No. 14 recruit and No. 5 QB in the nation. He pledged last June and remains locked in with the SEC program.

“I’m gonna do my best to recruit everybody that we’re looking to get,” Bell told On3 last month. “I talk to coach Milwee and the Texas coaching staff probably every week, so I get new names every other time so I just do my job.”

Just over a week after Bell committed, Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart did the same. He is a top-40 player at the position and the No. 30 player in the Lone Star State.

A pair of in-state offensive linemen round out the pledge list to date: Melissa (Texas) four-star offensive tackle Max Wright and Spring (Texas) Klein three-star interior offensive lineman Nicolas Robertson.
