Texas has solidified itself as a top contender in the recruitment of Monroe (La.) Ouachita Parish four-star defensive lineman Dylan Berymon. With a late-summer commitment potentially on the table, the Longhorns continue to position themselves well with the 6-foot-1.5, 305-pounder.

Berymon has been to Austin before and is set to return for an official visit on the weekend of June 13. Before then, though, Texas EDGE coach LaAllan Clark made his way to The Boot to visit the blue-chipper:

Last month, Berymon dropped a top six that included Texas, as well as Mississippi State, Houston, North Carolina, Purdue and USC. The competition remains stiff, but the Longhorns are working hard to get Berymon in the mix on The Forty Acres.

Miss State (May 30), Houston (June 6) and USC (June 20) help fill out what will be a busy summer of OVs. When speaking with On3’s Chad Simmons in March, Berymon tabbed Texas as one of the teams battling for the top spot in his process.

“Coach Kenny Baker is amazing. Since Baker got there, he has been mind-blowing in the way he recruits me. We have a great relationship, he has coached in the NFL and the Texas program is in great shape,” Berymon said. “Austin is a nice place, I have family in Houston and I will be back there this spring and for an official visit on June 13.”

Berymon is the No. 182 overall prospect and No. 19 DL in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 8 player in Louisiana.

Longhorns looking for another recruiting win in Louisiana

The month of May has already brought some good news for Texas. On May 9, New Orleans Edna Karr four-star cornerback Hayward Howard Jr. spurned in-state LSU and pledged to the Longhorns.

The addition of Howard Jr. propelled Texas inside the top 20 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Sarkisian and his staff currently have just six commits in the mix, though a slew of big decisions are on the way this summer.

The pledge list is buoyed by Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage five-star quarterback Dia Bell, the son of former NBA guard Raja Bell. Now On3’s No. 4 overall recruit and No. 2 QB in the nation, Bell has been committed since last June and he remains fully locked in with AJ Milwee and UT.

Just over a week after Bell committed, Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart did the same. He’s the highest-ranked of the four in-state commits in the class to date, checking in at No. 231 recruit overall.

February brought a commitment from Melissa (Texas) four-star offensive tackle Max Wright, a towering 6-foot-8, 310-pound trench monster. Spring (Texas) Klein three-star interior offensive lineman Nicolas Robertson committed at the end of March.
