Jacksonville Mandarin four-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench has been committed to Texas since Aug. 30 and is one of three blue-chip receivers in the Longhorns’ class.

Last weekend, Ffrench took an official visit to Florida. The in-state Gators looked to make a late splash with the 6-foot-1, 184-pounder, and he told Gators Online after the visit that UF “definitely” had a chance in his recruitment.

A potential return trip to Gainesville was on the table this weekend, but Inside Texas’ Justin Wells reported on Wednesday that Ffrench is expected to be back at Texas this weekend when the Longhorns host Kentucky.

Texas is in the thick of multiple recruitments ahead of National Signing Day. Steve Sarkisian and his staff will look to lock things down with Ffrench this weekend as the Gators and Miami push to keep him in the Sunshine State.

“The Gators are the school to watch with the Texas commit. There is a feeling in Gainesville that they have a real chance at flipping the five-star wide receiver out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin,” On3’s Chad Simmons wrote earlier this week.

Ffrench’s recruitment was a whirlwind in the summer, as the standout pass-catcher wasn’t shy about naming different schools leaders at different points. Texas was always a constant, though, and it really won out while Ffrench was on his official visit at the end of June.

“LSU and Miami were in the way, but Texas just kept doing what they do and building on the relationships with me and my family. I am a relationships guy, and how they connected with me and my family 110% percent played a big role in my decision,” Ffrench told On3 upon making his decision public.

More on Florida’s push down the stretch

Ffrench’s return to Florida sparked rumors about the potential of him not leaving the state after all. Over the weekend, his high school teammate, four-star quarterback Tramell Jones, flipped his commitment to the Gators from Florida State.

UF has since added two more commitments and now has the No. 24 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Momentum is firmly under head coach Billy Napier and Co., who are now targeting multiple five-stars ahead of NSD.

“Ffrench likes the idea of potentially playing Lagway along with Brown and new Florida 2025 quarterback commit Tramell Jones Jr. With all that being said he still could stick with the Longhorns. The battle continues,” On3’s Steve Wiltfong wrote this week.

Ffrench is the No. 35 overall prospect and No. 7 WR in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Florida.
