It’s been a busy spring for Middletown (N.J.) Hun School four-star EDGE Luke Wafle. The 6-foot-5.5, 245-pounder has been all over the country across the past few weeks to see top programs as he works through his recruitment.

After seeing Oklahoma and USC over the weekend, Wafle made his way to Texas on Monday and got to spend time around the Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian:

His stop on The Forty Acres follows a slew of visits last month, too. North CarolinaOhio StateTennesseeMiami, Penn State and Florida are among those that have also recently had the blue-chipper on campus.

Wafle’s stock continues to rise and it’s easy to see why, according to On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong:

“He is as first-off-the-bus in this class from a physical standpoint,” Wiltfong told On3’s Josh Newberg last month.

Now the No. 19 overall prospect in the On300, Wafle also checks in as the No. 8 EDGE and No. 59 recruit in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

As a junior for Hun, a top-10 program in New Jersey, Wafle racked up 53 total tackles and eight sacks in nine games, per MaxPreps.

Up next for Wafle will be a string of official visits. A June 13 OV to Penn State has been locked in thus far.

Texas currently has four commits in the 2026 cycle and a class that ranks No. 13 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. All four commits are on the offensive side of the ball, headlined by Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage five-star quarterback Dia Bell, On3’s No. 5 overall prospect.

Scout’s Take on Luke Wafle

Upon his rise near the top of the On300, Wafle drew high praise from On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power:

“Luke Wafle makes a big jump into the top 25 from three-star range. He pairs ready-made size at over 6-foot-5, around 245 pounds, with excellent on-field play. Wafle is very well-rounded as a pass-rusher. He wins with athleticism and also has excellent play-strength. You see him win with speed to power, blow by offensive linemen on the edge and he is a highly-physical finisher in the backfield, has some emphatic finishes and the ability to corral ball-carriers. A high-end multi-sport athlete, excellent basketball player and strong thrower in track and field. We view Wafle as one of the more ready-made prospects in this cycle and one who could make an early impact in college, given the ability and polish he’s shown to this point as a prospect.”
