Texas-TCU delayed due to lightning around Austin
The second game in a weekend series between TCU and Texas baseball has been postponed due to lightning in the area. The game went to a delay just before the bottom of the fifth inning.
At the time of the delay, Texas — the home team for the three-game series — was up to bat. The Longhorns already hold a 7-0 lead after four full innings.
The delay began shortly after 5:45 p.m. CT and requires at least a 30 minute pause from the last detected lightning. More lightning in the area will reset the clock for another 30 minute wait.
Right before the delay, Texas recorded the final out of the top of the fifth inning as a TCU baserunner over slid the bag on slippery, wet turf. The Longhorns were quick to include the clip with the announcement of a delay.
Texas cruised to a 7-0 win after the delay
While weather delays can often be a blessing for the team getting beat up — giving them a chance to reset and come out reinvigorated — such was not the case for TCU on Saturday.
After a decently lengthy delay, the Longhorns and Horned Frogs resumed play and it was much the same, with the Texas pitchers cruising and the Horned Frogs offense stalling.
TCU managed as many hits (5) as the Texas pitchers did strikeouts.
Starting pitcher Ace Whitehead did most of the heavy lifting, going six innings and striking out four on the way to picking up his fourth win of the year. Cade O’Hara came on to get the three inning save, his first of the year.

In other Texas action on Saturday, Arch Manning put on a show in the spring game
Arch Manning looked like the superstar many hope he can become in the Texas spring game on Saturday. The Longhorns quarterback played out of his mind to finish 19-of-25 passing for 355 yards and three touchdowns.
Manning stepped in for Quinn Ewers on the White team after the Orange team took an early 14-0 lead. He immediately made an impact to find DeAndre Moore Jr. for a 75-yard touchdown on his very first play.
The fireworks didn’t stop there as Manning led the White team on another march down the field on the next drive. Although there wasn’t a long bomb this time, Manning still managed to find Jaydon Blue over the middle for his second touchdown of the afternoon to tie things up at 14. The QB went 5-for-5 to start the day before throwing his first incompletion.
The Orange team answered with a touchdown of their own and led 21-17 at halftime after the White team kicked a field goal before the break. A touchdown from CJ Baxter to open the half would give the White team its first lead of the game, and they would later add to it with a field goal to make it 27-21.
After another touchdown from the Orange team to retake the lead, Manning got the ball back and once again went to work. He threw his second 75-yard touchdown of the afternoon, this time to Isaiah Bond, to go back up 34-28 with just 3:16 left in the game.
