This season, the Texas Tech Red Raiders currently sit at 6-2 overall, and they’ve won three straight. Their last game against Texas Southern, the Red Raiders won 16-5 in seven innings. They won that game despite really severe weather conditions. Winds were gusting at more than 30 miles per hour. But that didn’t stop the Washburn brothers, Jack and Owen Washburn, from making a major impact on the game.
Jack Washburn delivered a career-best eight strikeouts for the Red Raiders. The younger brother Owen Washburn went 3-for-3 at the plate, swatting two home runs with five RBIs. Damian Bravo and TJ Pompey also drilled home runs for Texas Tech.
Next up on the schedule, the Red Raiders will face the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs. That one will be on Friday, March 1st. The two teams will have a three-game series that will be on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On March 8th through 10th, they face off against their in-state rival, the Texas Longhorns. Texas Tech is currently ranked No. 19 in the country.
