Former Texas tight end Amari Niblack is staying in the SEC. Niblack is expected to sign with Texas A&M, a source told On3’s Pete Nakos.

Niblack appeared in nine games for Texas in 2024, catching five passes for 33 yards. He joined the Longhorns program after starting his career at Alabama.

While he played only sparingly this season, Niblack did make some big plays during his time at Alabama. He joined the Crimson Tide program after being ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 3 tight end in the country in the class of 2022, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

During his two seasons at Alabama, Niblack appeared in 24 games and made five starts. He was a solid receiving option for Alabama in 2023, catching 20 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns.

The hope for Niblack was that he would be a big part of the Texas offense this past season but that ended up not happening. Now he will look to make his mark on the Texas A&M program during the 2025 college football season. The Aggies finished with an 8-5 (5-3) record in Year 1 under Mike Elko.

Houston WR transfer Jonah Wilson signs with Texas A&M

In addition to Amari Niblack, Texas A&M also recently added another piece out of the transfer portal in Houston receiver Jonah Wilson.

Wilson appeared in seven games for Houston in 2024, catching nine passes for 58 yards during his redshirt freshman campaign. The 6 foot 2 Houston native was used sparingly with the Cougars during his career.

The Cougars finished the 2024 season with a 4-8 overall record after losing their final three games of the season. Houston was 2-5 in games where Wilson recorded stats, and did not log any receptions after the Nov. 2 upset win over No. 17 Kansas State.

Wilson was a product of the 2023 recruiting class, where he was a four-star recruit according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 288 overall player in his cycle and the No. 41 wide receiver.

He originally committed to Texas before his senior year of high school, but flipped to his home town Cougars before he graduated. Wilson ultimately spent two seasons with Houston after electing to redshirt after his true freshman season.
