The end of the high school season calls for a 2025 On3 150 ranking update
The 2025 On3 150 player rankings have been updated. This is the sixth update for this class, debuting a top 50 in September of 2022, expanding to 75 in March of 2023, and broadening to a full 150 in October, and updating the 150 in July. This is the third update of the full 150 list. This update is based on 1) in-person evaluations from the end of the high school season and state playoffs and 2) continued film study and intel on prospects.
Since the last update in January, the On3 team has attended numerous high school events and individual games and practices. With multiple showcases and events taking place every week(end), On3 has also collected streams, and combe through the film as we ensure the maximum exposure of countless events and players.
The ranking process is a continual and often fluid one. On3 starts ranking recruits after their freshman-year travel season, prior to the start of their sophomore high school seasons. That recruit can look a lot different for our final ranking after their senior year championships and all-star games are played.
We have spent the last several weeks working on this 2025 update so that it will reflect the most accurate and current representation of the recruiting cycle. This work has resulted in 12 players making their debuts in the 2025 On3 150. We have also continued collecting data on the previously ranked players, putting eyes through the 2025 On3 150 ranking process.
These players have ended their regular high school seasons and are getting ready to start their travel ball seasons. Our next 2025 On3 150 update is scheduled to drop prior to the July live evaluation period. With multiple updates remaining, there is still a lot of basketball to be played before this class cycle ends.
The goal of the basketball rankings at On3 is to assess a prospect’s long-term potential. As we continue forward, a player’s performance on the court and their continued growth will outweigh the earlier rankings. Again, every player’s arc is different, and each ranking is a snapshot in time.
Here are some storylines from On3’s fourth update of a full 150 for the 2025 class.
Grading the 2025 On3 150
The basketball player rankings scale is as follows: Five-star prospects have grades 98-100, four-star recruits have grades 90-97, and 80-89 grades are for three stars.
The first 10 prospects are five starts with a rating of 98 or higher. The players ranked No. 11 to 110 are classified as four-star prospects with grades from 90-97. The remainder of the 150 and position rankings are considered three-star prospects.
Our goal is to assess a prospect’s long-term potential, ultimately manifested by the NBA Draft. The goal of the ranking is not to assess who had the best high school career or who will be the best college player. This is why we will shoot to end each cycle with 14 five-star prospects following the lead of the NBA Draft Lottery. The vision is draft night.
AJ Dybantsa maintains spot at No. 1
This is the second update that AJ Dybantsa has held the No. 1 spot in the 2025 rankings. While Cameron Boozer, who continues to hold steady at No. 2, had one of the most productive seasons across high school basketball, this conversation did not last for very long.
AJ Dybantsa’s had a productive season in his own right, earning MVP honors of the Grind Session. The 6-foot-8 wing is not averse to winning awards. He was the Massachusetts Gatorade State Player of the Year as a freshman and a USA gold-medal winner for the Junior National U16 Team the following summer.
Dybantsa has a lengthy and fluid frame. He is advanced offensively, with his efficient handle to get to his spots in the half-court and his soft shooting touch that remains consistent off the bounce or off the catch. He has good footwork and as he continues to get strong and play with consistent balance, he will only get more advanced, self-created scoring looks.
While Dybansta is still polishing his game, his production already speaks for itself. His ceiling is as high as any player in high school.

The class has emerging depth with high-upside forwards
Length, positional size, and athleticism are very important in basketball. A quick glance across the landscape of today’s NBA and you see the value of having game-changing wings. Ten of the top 20 paid players in the NBA are wings. There are different archetypes of wings, the three-and-D, the sniper, the two-way wing, the play-making wing, etc. But as you look across the rosters of many of the NBA’s best teams, they are anchored from the wing position.
The 2025 class has a handful of wings that are quickly emerging with high ceilings. Still just finishing their junior years of high school, players like No. 1 ranked AJ Dybantsa at Napa (CA) Prolific Prep and No. 3 ranked Caleb Wilson of Atlanta (GA) Holy Innocents are skilled and fluid with positional size. Sure some are still raw and growing into their games and frames, but the flashes are coming more consistently and the production is growing toward the high ceiling.
