The North Carolina 2024 class will be a HOT BED for Blue bloods, new bloods
You can count on North Carolina having nationally ranked players coming out every year. North Carolina will be top-heavy with top-end national talent every three or four years. In 2016 it was Harry Giles, Dennis Smith, Jr., and Bam Adebayo. In 2018 it was Coby White and Devon Dotson. And in 2022, it was Jaden Bradley, MJ Rice, and Jalen Hood-Schifino.
The 2024 class looks like it may be shaping up to be the next North Carolina class in line, with multiple top-50, top-100 type talents.
Watch over the next two years as these players’ reputations continue to grow. Blue bloods, new bloods, and NCAA tournament teams from across the country will be making their way to the Tar Heel State to recruit the 2024 class. Things are just getting started.
On3 breaks down the contenders in the class
4-star PF Jarin Stevenson
High School: Pittsboro (NC) Seaforth High
Measurables: 6-9/200
On3 Consensus: No. 21
Jarin Stevenson is a skilled forward prospect. He consistently gives big outputs for his Team United EYBL 16u team. He is comfortable in the mid-post or catch and shoot threes. Stevenson is developing from the perimeter, and his athleticism continues to grow. He plays for a brand new high school, and his class will be the school’s first senior class. Stevenson has a basketball pedigree as both parents played major college basketball.
Claimed offers: Virginia, North Carolina, NC State, and Wake Forest
NR PG Bishop Boswell
High School: Charlotte (NC) Myers Park
Measurables: 6-4/185
On3 Consensus: NR
Bishop Boswell has toggled between being a power-five prospect in both basketball and football. Well, that no longer has to be a decision as he has given up his time on the grid-iron. With his full-time focus now on the hardwood, Boswell has become one of the top point guards in his class. The 6-foot-4 rising junior is a rugged perimeter defender, and his ability to touch the paint and make a read is high-level. There is only a ceiling here to grow, but Boswell looks like a point guard who can play at D-I school in the country.

4-star SG Paul McNeil
High School: Rockingham (NC) Richmond County
Measurables: 6-5/170
On3 Consensus: No. 23
Paul McNeil is a shot-maker; there is no denying this. Anyone courtside watching him play sees that shooting is his thing. Where McNeil has grown his in his footwork and body control. He is now learning how to be a shot-maker instead of just hoisting tough shots. His game has a growing discipline, and the efficiency is following. Fewer dribbles, fewer steps, and more work ahead of receiving the pass have rendered eye-opening results. Eager to see how he continues to grow.
Claimed offers: Virginia Tech, LSU, Missouri, NC State, Clemson, Indiana, Tennessee, etc.
NR SG Austin Swartz
High School: Concord (NC) Cannon School
Measurables: 6-5/175
On3 Consensus: NR
Shot-making is a central piece in today’s game, especially from the wing position. Austin Swartz is interesting because he can also create his own shot off the bounce. He has the deep range and the confidence, but he also has the array of footwork and dribbles to get him clean looks. Swartz is a terrific passer, and he is also more straight-line explosive than you may think. He does not have the ranking or the offers yet; however, scoring 68-points over a two-game span in front of 25-plus high major college coaches will expedite that process.
Claimed offers: Iona, College of Charleston, etc.
NR SG Drake Powell
High School: Pittsboro (NC) Northwood
Measurables: 6-5/175
On3 Consensus: NR
Drake Powell is one of the best perimeter defenders in the country. His length and instincts have him guarding the opposing team’s best perimeter player and routinely keeping them below their season averages. Where Powell has developed is in his shot-making. He moves well off the ball and knocks down the open three-ball. He plays with a great pace and makes the right reads with the ball in his hands. A high-level player who makes everyone on the floor better.
Claimed offers: Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, LSU, Texas A&M, Miami, VCU, NC State, etc.
4-star SG Jaeden Mustaf
High School: Matthews (NC) Carmel Christian
Measurables: 6-5/200
On3 Consensus: No. 36
Jaeden Mustaf has the basketball lineage, as his father was a first-round NBA Draft pick in 1990. The younger Mustaf is a jack-of-all-trades type of player, able to do a lot across the board. Mustaf can create and pass in the half-court and open floor with a strong frame and good positional size. He is a good team defender and a good rebounder for a wing. Mustaf is also very explosive at the basket. He is a triple-double threat at this level and should be the central piece on one of the best teams in the state.
Claimed offers: Indiana, Georgetown, Xavier, Maryland, Virginia Tech, etc.
