The PAC 12 is starting to rally behind '23 Courtney Anderson
There is so much to like about a smooth 6-foot-5 bucket getter. You can see why 2023 Courtney Anderson is starting to gain traction with college coaches. The Richmond (CA) Dublin High shooting guard averaged 12.8 points shooting 40-percent from three during the UAA Session 1.
“I am a scorer first, but I am an all-around player,” Anderson told On3. “I can defend, rebound, make my teammates better. My mentality is different now, my confidence is high, and I have been producing consistently. I watch a lot of Anfrenee Simons, how crafty he is and how he is a two-way player.”
High major head coaches from along the west coast were in the stands watching his games with the West Coast Elite NorCal team. On3 caught up with Courtney Anderson to get a feel for his visit schedule and get an up-to-date view of his recruitment.
“Of the schools who have offered, I am hearing the most from Cal, St. Mary’s, Arizona State, San Francisco, and Washington State right now. I have taken two of my junior year official visits, Montana and Nevada. I have taken unofficials to Cal and San Francisco.”
Anderson talks recruitment
Nevada: “The school was nice. Their coaching staff has a lot of history with NBA players, so they spent a lot of time showing me how I can develop into an NBA player and how they can help me get to that level.”
California: “Their main thing is that I can come in and play immediately. They are continuing to get better and building. They are telling me that they will be a better program when I get there, and I can be a part of that.”
San Francisco: “I learned a lot about their history; Bill Russell played there. They are telling me that NBA Hall of Famers have gone there.”

“I hear from Oregon State,” Anderson added. “Their head coach was watching this morning. They haven’t offered yet, so we will see what they do.”
Anderson’s take
“When I go on these visits,” Anderson said. “I will take a look at how the team likes things. I’ll talk with them and see the reality of how things are going. I will look at how the coaches interact with the players and how their relationship looks.
“I want to know how they envision using me and to look at the flow of their offense and see how I fit in.”
On3’s take
Courtney Anderson is a smooth off guard. He is a two-foot gatherer with a sneaky bounce at the rim. He is a good jump shooter, with deep range and consistent form and release. Anderson played confidently on the ball, initiating some offense and getting to the rim in the half-court. He will need to continue adding strength. While he is a team-first guy, he is capable of taking games over; he can play a bit passive at times. There is a lot to like with Anderson, though, and he seems to be figuring things out with his production.
