The updated On300 will be released Monday with new additions
The updated On300 for the class of 2023 will be released Monday with a number of new additions.
The current On300 readies for an updated release with Arch Manning sitting at No. 1 overall, along with 14 five-star ranked prospects.
All told, there will be 20 new additions to the updated On300. Without giving away where the new additions will be ranked come Monday, On3 takes a look at some of the prospects set to enter the ranking.
Impressive trio of safeties
When looking at the safety prospects in the 2023 cycle, not many feature the playing speed of Vincent Holmes. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 175-pounds, Holmes play speed shows up at safety and wide receiver. He’s an explosive initial mover, and possesses the ability to accelerate to track a ball or quickly close on a ball carrier. Despite needing to add ample strength to his frame, Holmes plays a physical brand of ball on defense. He not only closes in the blink of an eye, but also delivers a strike at times. The combination of play speed, ball skills, physicality and lateral agility make Holmes one of the top prospects at the position. Colleges have begun to catch on as well. He has recent offers from USC and UCLA, to go along with Washington State, Oregon State, Colorado and Washington.
The Brazosport Exporters haven’t had many national recruits over the years, but the 2023 cycle should be different. Defensive back Randon Fontenette is a quarterback and defensive back for the Houston area school. He was named the 12-4A Offensive MVP as a junior after being tabbed 12-4A first-team all-district safety as a sophomore. His movement skills at near 6-foot-2 and 192-pounds are high-end. Add in long arms, reactive quickness, physicality and ball tracking skills and he has quickly become a top defensive back prospect in the cycle. As impressive as his physical ability, he plays the safety position with eye discipline. He reads quickly, and reacts instantly. We expect Fontenette’s offer list top grow significantly in May. He currently holds offers from Texas Tech, Utah, Vanderbilt, UTSA and Louisiana-Monroe.

Another safety out of the Lone Star State that has impressed this spring is Tyler Turner. Turner was productive on the field as a junior to the tune of 133 tackles, five tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and three interceptions. And the offers followed with 10 Power 5’s since the last week of the 2021 season. The one-time Baylor verbal put together strong showing at the Under Armour Next Camp in Dallas in March. He ran a sub 4.6 laser forty at 5-foot-11.5 and 180-pounds. Productive player that also excels in the testing phase.
Texas Tech hit a home run with Calvin Simpson-Hunt
Cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt popped on junior tape, and continued to impress the more we researched the Red Raiders verbal. The 5-foot-11.5, 187-pounder with a 10.66 100 meter time to his credit this spring checks all the boxes. He has quality length to go with the reactive quickness, turn and run speed and play speed. On3 research informed us that the prospect is among the top corners in the cycle, but he’s just as impressive as a kid. Since committing to Texas Tech, the DFW area prospect has picked up more than a dozen offers. That offer list includes LSU, Florida, TCU, Ole Miss, Oregon, Baylor and Stanford.
Simpson-Hunt is joined by four more cornerback prospects making debuts on the list.
Josiah Jackson, Fairfield (Ohio) High – West Virginia commitment
Daylen Austin, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly
Ja’Keem Jackson, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola
Jordan Sanford, Mansfield (Texas) Timberview
Big man with tremendous feet will make his debut
The state of West Virginia is home to one of the best athletes playing on the offensive line in the cycle. Layth Ghannam is a smooth moving 6-foot-4.5, 280-pounder interior offensive line prospect with tremendous feet. His first and second step foot quickness is among the best in the cycle at his position. The lean bodied guard possesses high-end lateral movement skills to the tune of a 4.56 laser shuttle recently at 280-pounds. His ability to play light on his feet, accelerate on contact and engage down the field with flexibility as among the best in the cycle. We believe Ghannam is one of the more under recruited prospects in the country in the cycle. He currently sports three Power 5 offers – Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wake Forest.
Five more offensive linemen will make debuts along with Ghannam.
OT Oluwatosin Babalade, Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic
OT Jamall Franklin, Baton Rouge (La.) Scotlandville Magnet
IOL D.J. Chester, Conyers (Ga.) Eagle’s Landing Christian
IOL Leighton Jones, Brownsburg (In.) High – Iowa commitment
IOL Evan Tengesdahl, Dayton (Ohio) Wayne – Cincinnati commitment
Along with the 14 prospects mentioned, there will be six more new additions to the On300. The updated On300 is scheduled for a Monday 11am CT release.
