When Alabama took down Georgia on Saturday, we officially entered a world where the SEC could be left out of the College Football Playoff. In the format’s history, the SEC has never been left out and more times than not, it’s also produced a national champion. But Big Ten and ACC Championship results pending, the odds may be against what has been college football’s top conference.

Not everybody is buying the SEC being left out quite yet. In fact, FOX’s Tim Brando believes both Alabama and Georgia will find a way to get in after Greg Sankey went on ESPN College GameDay on Saturday morning.

Brando crafted a tweet to call out the commissioner but threw in ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit and Paul Finebaum in there too.

“Well played on Twitter but not what @KirkHerbstreit was implying on @CollegeGameDay this morning,” Brando said. “Yeah I was in Wisconsin but I watched. No one questions Kirk anymore. No one on that set, and certainly no one at the Network. There’s a fine line all of us walk when opining and before @GregSankey he championed ‘Best 4’ vs. ‘Most Deserving’ it was well plotted and perfectly formatted for the SEC Commish to knock outta the park for the Committee to see!

“Fans may not have noticed, but they don’t matter. The @CFBPlayoff does! It was powerful. The @SEC is counting on Bama over @FSUFootball don’t be shocked if they get the Daily Double! @GeorgiaFootball over @TexasFootball why? They beat #1 @Finebaum has championed this all week as well!”

Two SEC teams in the College Football Playoff is not exactly unheard of, with there being two instances of such. In fact, Alabama and Georgia went on to face each other in the national championship, splitting them at one a piece.

In the case of Alabama’s 2017 championship, they did not even win the SEC West but were able to sneak in as the four-seed. A loss to Auburn kept them out of the SEC Championship and likely avoided a second loss on the season, which would have ended any chance of getting in the CFP.

Brando certainly believes something could be up from the College Football Playoff committee on Selection Sunday. And somehow, he thinks Sankey, Herbstreit, and Finebaum are going to be involved in the decision.

A crazy Selection Sunday is ahead of us, with one of the most debated playoffs coming to fruition.
