Tim Tebow: Carson Beck's focus is winning a national championship in 2024
Carson Beck leads preseason No. 1 Georgia into the 2024 regular season with a blockbuster matchup against Clemson on Saturday. After failing to reach the College Football Playoff in his first season as the Bulldogs’ starter — how much pressure is on Beck to lead his team back to the national championship?
According to Tim Tebow, the Florida great believes it’s Beck’s number one goal to lead Georgia to a third championship in four years before he heads off to the NFL.
“I think he’s really trying to turn that pain into purpose,” Tebow said on SportsCenter on Saturday morning. “And I think it’s something that Carson Beck is absolutely going to do. Listen, this is a kid that had the opportunity to go to the NFL. He had an opportunity to make even more money, although he’s making a fair amount with NIL, but that’s not his focus. His focus is championships.
“Listen, he didn’t leave Jacksonville, Florida as a young kid that grew up a die hard Gator fan, but now went to a rival in the red and black just to go and have some some fun there in Athens. He went to win a championship.”

Beck threw for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2023. He’s expected to have sustained success as the Bulldogs could take the new-look SEC by storm this season. After all, many way-too-early mocks have Beck as one of the first quarterbacks taken in the 2025 NFL Draft for a reason.
However, Tebow reminded fans that it takes more than just numbers to win a championship.
“It is not about yards, it is not about stats, it is not about hype,” Tebow continued. “It is about being able to win that championship, something Stetson Bennett was able to do. Yes, I think he’s one of the best quarterbacks, best players in the country. I think he will be a high draft pick in the first round next year, but his focus right now is a championship.
“It is leading that team, and he lost his top two playmakers and Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers. But this kid is focused, maybe as much as anyone is the country and I can’t wait to see him play today.”
Kickoff between Georgia and Clemson is scheduled for Noon ET live on ABC and ESPN+.
