An interesting quarterback matchup has found its way into the early college football schedule as Colorado travels to Lincoln to take on Nebraska on Saturday night.
Featuring the likes of Shedeur Sanders under center for the Buffs and Huskers true freshman Dylan Raiola, there isn’t a quarterback battle that former Heisman Trophy-winning QB Tim Tebow is looking more forward to.
Sanders would finish Colorado’s 31-26 victory over South Dakota State having completed 26 of 34 passes for 445 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. No quarterback passed for more than him in Week 1, which is why Tebow is excited to see what he’s capable of on Saturday against the Huskers’ defense.
“I can’t wait to watch Shedeur,” Tebow said on SportsCenter on Saturday. “If you look at what he did during Week 1 against a really good opponent — he did everything. They’re putting on back braces and he’s saying ‘I can carry more. Give me more, coach.’ Whatever you want to say, this kid is for real.

“The way he adjusts in the pocket, the way he maneuvers in the pocket, the way he throws when he’s getting hit … He turns the momentum and he’s done it from day one.”

For Raiola, the blue-chip true freshman quarterback has one game of college experiance under his belt. However, it was enough to impress Tebow during the Huskers’ 40-7 Week 1 win over UTEP.
He finished the game 19 of 27 for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns before being taken out of the game early as head coach Matt Rhule pulled his starters in the second half.
“Dylan Raiola, Week 1, stepping up and dropping dimes all over,” Tebow said. “Everybody wants to make the Patrick Mahomes comparison because of their throwing motion, and you know, there are some similarities there. I know he wears the number, I know he looks like it, but you know what? Sometimes we throw those comparisons too soon, but the way this kid manuevers in the pocket and his accuracy from different angles — he’s got so much talent.
“I can’t wait to watch this quarterback matchup — probably the best of the day.”
Kickoff between the Buffs and Huskers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
