The Florida Gators welcome the Miami Hurricanes to town on Saturday, and Tim Tebow believes his alma mater is ready to show the world why they’re a sleeper in the SEC, beginning in Week 1.

Tebow cited a “quiet confidence” that’s spreading among the Gators as a reason why they could be a sneaky contender in 2024, despite their tough schedule and lack of preseason hype.

“I really believe it’s with confidence, and a new culture, and those are two of the big focuses in Gainesville right now. This new culture. They’re trying to build from the inside out. The players that want to be here, they’re going to stay here, and the ones that actually want to be a Gator, come be a part of this program,” Tebow stated, via SportsCenter. “You know, that’s something that Graham [Mertz] and this team’s not shy about, is they want the people that want to be here, and you know, they’re not trying to prove their doubters wrong. They’re trying to prove themselves.

“Yes, they’ve got to swag to them. You know, I got to hang out with him a lot yesterday, and throughout this off season. Got to see different members of this team. And, man, there’s a quiet confidence, there really is. I think they really want to prove it on the field, not with their words, and I’m excited to see what they do. Let’s remember, this is a kid with 20 touchdowns last year, only three interceptions. Led the SEC with a 73% completion percentage. A lot of people are doubting him. I think he has a chance to be one of the better quarterbacks in the SEC. He’s got Tre Wilson, his No. 1 receiver returning, who I think is going to be one of the best players in the SEC.

“So, I’m excited. I want to see if this confidence is something that can really galvanize this fan base, and rally them around him, because this is an opportunity, not just to get a big win, but to get a big win over a rival, a team that they haven’t played in several years. We know Florida and Miami, it used to be a little bit of a bigger deal, but people still care about it here.”

Florida might not have many outside of Gainesville convinced at the moment, but it Tim Tebow is right and the Gators take it to Miami on Saturday, the tune could change among college football fans and experts alike.
