There are plenty of intriguing Heisman candidates as we near the halfway point of the 2024 college football season, and Tim Tebow highlighted several of them Saturday morning on SportsCenter.

With that said, there’s a non-power conference player who Tebow has as his Heisman favorite at this point in the year.

“Well, listen, I think Jalen Milroe is standing out. I think Cam Ward is doing a great job. I think Travis Hunter is playing at an unbelievable level on both sides of the ball,” Tim Tebow said. “But if I had to go with my winner right now through September, I’m going with Ashton Jeanty from Boise State.”

Milroe has helped Alabama to an undefeated start to the season, including a win over Georgia last week. The junior already has 18 total touchdowns on the year. Ward also has Miami undefeated, and the Hurricanes QB has 20 touchdowns on the season. Travis Hunter might be the most dynamic player in the country as he has made play after play on both sides of the ball.

However, Tim Tebow believes Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty has separated himself from the pack. Through four games the junior has 845 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns and is averaging better than 10 yards per carry.

“This dude is unreal,” Tebow said. “Through four games, 845 yards, 13 touchdowns. That’s what everybody’s going to talk about. But I want to talk about what nobody’s talking about. Through four games, 21 broken tackles, most in the FBS.”

Tim Tebow revealed one more stat that is incredibly impressive.

“Oh, and by the way, the most ridiculous stat I’ve seen this season, per rush, 5.7 yards after contact. That means every time he gets the rock, and you hit him, he’s going another 5.7. That’s a joke,” Tebow said. “This kid is ridiculous. I want everybody to see that stat, 5.7 yards after contact.”

There’s still a lot of football left to be played, but Tim Tebow made his Heisman choice clear as things stand today.

Tebow’s opinion matters, too. As a former Heisman winner, he will vote in this year’s race. The 2024 Heisman trophy will be presented to the winner in December, ahead of the postseason.

Jeanty and Boise State are 3-1 on the year, with the only loss being in a close game to Oregon. The Florida native rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns against the Ducks, proving that he’s plenty capable of making plays against top FBS defenses.
