Tim Tebow previews rematch between Oregon, Ohio State in College Football Playoff
Oregon and Ohio State meet again but this time, it’s for the Rose Bowl in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.
You don’t get many opportunities to get a second chance in college football, as Tim Tebow pointed out. But with the new playoff format, second chances are possible.
“Very rarely do you get an opportunity to bounce back like Ohio State did, like in any other season, for however long their season was dashed against the rocks, hopeless. But this season, the first year being a 12-team playoff, they get a new lease on life,” Tebow told On3. “And I think there was a pride that came into that team after losing to a rival, knowing you get another shot and Tennessee paid the price for that. And I’m really excited, because I think it’s one of the best rosters, if not the best roster in the country, is Ohio State’s.
“I think Jeremiah Smith is maybe the best receiver in the country. They got two of the best running backs. You’ve got one of the best safeties in Caleb Downs Your front four is extremely good, offensive lone who has gone through ups and downs this year, but played a lot better against Tennessee. Will Howard has gone through some ups and downs as well, but for the most part, have been pretty fundamentally sound throughout this year as well.”
Oregon, despite beating Ohio State 32-31 earlier this year, was deemed to have the toughest draw in the playoff. That’s with being an undefeated No. 1 seed.

Oregon might happen to get Ohio State at the Buckeyes’ best in Pasadena. If that’s the case, watch out.
“So it is a team that can and should scare anyone and can beat anyone,” Tebow said. “And so even though they lost on the road by one, it’s a team that I don’t think anybody wants to see them, when they play like they did against Tennessee.”
With so much on the line, including Oregon’s undefeated season, head coach Dan Lanning talked about the preparation for Ohio State.
“I think that’s the double edged sword right,” Lanning said, via Sirius XM. “What do you want to do that’s new and different? And then what do you want to do that really leans into your team’s strengths? So they’ll be doing the same thing on their side, which I think is kind of an equalizer from that standpoint. But this is a great team that we’re going to play. And I think that’s what you want. Moments like this.”
