Tim Tebow reveals biggest key for Quinn Ewers, Texas vs. Michigan
Quinn Ewers and Texas get a step up in competition when they visit Michigan Saturday afternoon.
The defending national champions plan to make life quite difficult, particularly the quarterback. But if Ewers makes specific adjustments, as ESPN’s Tim Tebow laid out, the Longhorns should find success against the Wolverines.
It might not be the Michigan team of 2023, but this is a darn good unit. Ewers and Texas must be ready.
“I think it’s really starting with handling the adjustments,” Tebow said on SportsCenter. “They do so many different RPOs, and with the RPOs, you have to be able to make adjustments, see the changes in the defense and Wink Martindale, the DC of Michigan, he’s been in the NFL for a long time. And he is a legend at disguise, at multiple blitzes, and shifting from three down to four down, and giving you so many looks.
“So Quinn has to be on the same page with his receivers. Last week, they did such a good job of being on the same page, adjusting to the different coverages. I think that is so important in this game. I actually believe it’s the key of the game, because with this RPO, everything’s on the table. You have to see it clearly. You have to be able to make adjustments, and you have to do it quickly. That’s something Quinn has been great at, but I think he’s got to be even better this week against Wink Martindale, and this really talented Michigan defense.”

The Wolverines forced two turnovers, including a pick-six from Will Johnson. If Ewers locks on to his Texas’ receivers, the best corner in college football could take advantage.
Ewers didn’t play a full game in Week 1 during the blowout, giving way to Arch Manning. That likely won’t be the case Saturday.
Ewers passed for 260 yards, three touchdowns and one interception last week, while Jerrick Gibson and Jaydon Blue combined for 21 carries and 124 yards on the ground, including a score.
A delicate balance is needed, considering Texas’ advantages on offense. Wearing down the Michigan defense could be key, as Tebow alluded to.
