2024 5-star LB TJ Capers announces top 12 schools

Miami Columbus five-star linebacker TJ Capers announced his top 12 schools on Friday. They are Penn State, Miami, Texas A&M, Georgia, Michigan, Louisville, USC, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Ohio State and Michigan State.
Capers is the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 player in Florida.
“Location doesn’t matter me,” Capers told On3’s Chad Simmons on Sept. 27. “You just gotta get where you fit, do what’s best for you.”
“I definitely think the most important thing is how players in my position, my skill set are doing and how the team progresses and gels as one,” he added.

Capers told Simmons that schools are recruiting him to play multiple spots in the linebacker formation.
“Some want me to play inside backer,” Capers said. “Some want me to stay outside. Some want me to rush off the edge. Some want me to play outside and rush off the edge in different situations.”
A 6-foot-1.5, 230-pound prospect, Capers has an On3 NIL Valuation of $147K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
TJ Capers On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for TJ Capers:
“Longer-limbed inside backer who can cover, shed blockers and rush the passer all at a high level. Effective blitzer coming off the edge. Chases in backside pursuit to the ball carrier consistently. Not afraid to stick his face into traffic when playing in the box. Tested well this spring with an electronically-timed 4.62 40 and a 27” vertical. Three-sport athlete who plays basketball and participates in track and field. Checks every box for the inside backer position and has an enormously high floor and an even higher ceiling.”
