Former Michigan Wolverines quarterback Denard Robinson has taken a plea deal for a misdemeanor OWI that occurred in April, per TMZ.

Robinson was arrested in April for operating a vehicle while intoxicated while he was in Ann Arbor. That came after being involved in a single-vehicle crash a little after 3:00 a.m. At the time, police claimed they found Robinson sleeping at the wheel of his crashed SUV. He also reportedly had a BAC of .158 after he was taken into custody.

At the time of his arrest, Robinson was working on the Michigan staff as an assistant director of player personnel. He then went on to resign from that post following the arrest. It was a role that he had held since February of 2022.

Court records show that Robinson pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of operating while visibly impaired. Records also show that the initial charges of misdemeanor operating while intoxicated were dropped.

As a result of the plea, Robinson is now facing up to 93 days in jail, $300 in fines, and four points on his driver’s license. That’s down from the initial charge, which carried the potential for 93 days in jail, a $500 fine, and six points on his driver’s license.

Sentencing in this case will come in a hearing next month.

As a player, Robinson was sensational at Michigan. In 2010, he was named an All-American and was the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. Playing between 2009 and 2012, he completed 57.3 percent of passes over the course of his career for 6,250 yards and 49 touchdowns to 39 interceptions. He was also a sensational runner, going for 4,495 yards and 42 touchdowns on the ground.

He would go on to be a fifth round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013. There, he was converted to a running back and would go on to spend four seasons with the team before stepping away from football. In 2019, he briefly returned with the Atlanta Falcons before getting into coaching as an analyst for Jacksonville.

Last week, LEAD Prep Academy announced that it had hired Denard Robinson to be the school’s new running backs coach.
