Tom Brady on Michigan first half vs. Texas: 'Tough to watch'
NFL legend and Michigan alum Tom Brady took in the first half of the Wolverines’ game against Texas and well, it wasn’t pretty. Texas led 24-3 going into the locker room.
The former Wolverines’ quarterback is set to make his NFL on FOX regular season debut Sunday, but joined the FOX broadcast at halftime Saturday. Safe to say, Brady wished he could’ve gloated about Michigan leading Texas rather than the other way around.
FOX’s Joel Klatt asked Brady his initial thoughts from the first 30 minutes, saying “your Wolverines need some help right now.”
“Tell me about it Joel, it’s been tough to watch this first half,” Brady said. “I was hoping I’d come on here and be talking about the opposite score there. But Texas is off to a great start. (The) quarterback’s playing well, so Michigan’s got a lot to cover here in the in the second half.”
Brady likely could’ve broken down what was going wrong by each individual play, but he’ll save the good stuff for Sunday when he calls the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Cleveland Browns.

Brady will have his share of challenges as a broadcaster if he becomes a partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders though. According to Seth Wickersham of ESPN, Brady would be forced to abide by several restrictions as a Raiders owner and Fox broadcaster, including not entering another team’s facility and not attending another team’s practice.
Brady also can’t attend broadcast production meetings, either in-person or virtually.
Before Brady played in his final NFL season in 2022, he agreed to be part of the FOX broadcast team for 10 years and $375 million.
In June, Brady explained why he took a year off before starting his job at Fox.
“For me it was the only way to do it,” Brady said on the SI Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina. “I realized that to come off of playing season and then to jump right into that, it’s a whole ‘nother discipline to learn and I really wanted to take some time to watch, listen and learn and talk to people.
“People who I really see as the greatest at what they’ve done, and everyone really opened their arms to embrace me and phone calls and there’s still more that I’m going to make before the start of the season. And I’m just very grateful for all the people that kind of shared a lot of incredible nuggets, ways to succeed, that I’ll be able to involve myself in as I go forward.”
