Transfer Portal: Ranking the top 10 commitments
On3 is breaking down the top 10 commitments in the winter college football transfer portal window, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings. The four teams still alive in the College Football Playoff could see a few departures after their seasons end.
Here’s the full breakdown of the top 10 commitments:
1. Oklahoma QB John Mateer
Washington State quarterback John Mateer visited Oklahoma shortly after entering the transfer and picked the Sooners, reuniting with his former offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle. Miami and North Carolina did everything they could to get a visit. Mateer led the Cougars to an 8-4 record in 2024, as the quarterback threw for 3,139 yards and 29 touchdowns while rushing for 826 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. Mateer finished the regular season ranked No. 5 in the nation in total individual offensive production, producing 330.4 yards per game.
2. Auburn WR Eric Singleton
Viewed as the top wide receiver available in the transfer portal, Eric Singleton commanded over $1 million in the portal, sources tell On3. The Georgia Tech transfer looked at Ole Miss, Texas, Miami and LSU, but settled on Auburn after taking multiple visits to campus. Singleton started in all 12 of the Yellow Jackets’ regular-season games this season, tallying a team-high 56 catches for 754 yards and three touchdowns. Singleton’s 754 yards were the 12th-most in the ACC.
3. Georgia WR Zachariah Branch
After making visits to Georgia, Arizona State and Miami, USC transfer wide receiver Zachariah Branch committed to the Bulldogs on Sunday. He’s made a name for himself with his speed, earning first-team All-American honors in 2023 with 774 return yards and two touchdowns. He also posted 78 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns in his two years under Lincoln Riley. Branch’s brother, Zion, also committed to Georgia.
4. Cal QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele
Oregon quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele entered the transfer portal after roughly a week with the program and quickly committed to California. The No. 4 quarterback in the 2025 cycle and the No. 19 overall prospect was a long-time Cal commit before flipping to the Ducks during the Early Signing Period. An Elite 11 finalist, his 10,653 career passing yards are the most in Hawaii state history, beating Dillon Gabriel’s 9,848. He’s also second in Hawaii state history with 114 touchdowns.
5. Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion
KC Concepcion had a lengthy visit schedule, making stops at Alabama, Colorado and Miami. The last stop he made was Texas A&M, as Concepcion committed to the Aggies. He had a breakout freshman campaign in 2023, hauling in 71 passes for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also contributed another 320 yards on the ground as a do-it-all playmaker. This fall Concepcion turned 53 receptions into 460 yards and six touchdowns with two more rushing scores.
6. Texas A&M WR Micah Hudson
Texas A&M identified a position in need in the transfer portal at wide receiver, bringing in Texas Tech transfer Micah Hudson. The former Five-Star Plus+ recruit appeared in eight games as a freshman, hauling in eight passes for 123 yards. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder was the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

7. Florida State WR Duce Robinson
Florida State went all-out to land the top wide receiver in USC transfer Duce Robinson. The son of a former Seminole, Duce Robinson has two years of eligibility remaining and chose FSU over Arizona State. The wide receiver posted 39 catches for 747 yards and seven touchdowns over the last two seasons. He has averaged nearly 20 yards per reception in his college career.
8. Oregon S Dillon Thieneman
Ranked as the No. 1 safety in the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings, Purdue transfer Dillon Thieneman picked Oregon over Ohio State. The safety with elite speed picked off six passes in his first college football season in 2023, to go along with 74 tackles en route to earning several national and Big Ten Freshman of the Year Awards. Thieneman followed up that special campaign with another 70 tackles and six pass breakups this fall.
9. Oregon RB Makhi Hughes
Tulane transfer running back Makhi Hughes was in Eugene this weekend for a visit, coincidentally corresponding with when his brother Na’eem Offord moved into Oregon. The third overall player in the On3 Transfer Portal rushed for 2,779 yards and 22 touchdowns in the last two seasons. He committed on Tuesday and will fill in for NFL-bound Jordan James.
10. Nebraska EDGE Williams Nwaneri
Missouri freshman defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri entered the transfer portal in December and quickly committed to Nebraska. Nwaneri’s high school head coach at Lee’s Summit North (Mo.) is current Nebraska assistant Jamar Mozee. Nwaneri played in four games during his freshman campaign at Mizzou, preserving a redshirt and giving him four years of eligibility at his next school. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound EDGE was a five-star recruit and checked in as the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
