Top-100 CB Ben Hanks sets commitment date, down to three schools
Decision day is now right around the corner for one of the top prospects in the state of Florida.
On Thursday, Miami Booker T. Washington four-star cornerback Ben Hanks told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he is set to announce his commitment on Aug. 16. He will choose between Florida, Louisville and Miami.
Hanks is the No. 99 overall prospect and No. 11 corner in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 14 player in the Sunshine State.
On3 ranks Hanks higher than other recruiting services, as he checks in at No. 72 overall, No. 10 at CB and No. 12 in the Sunshine State in the 2025 On300.
A Florida legacy, Hanks is currently trending to the Gators, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). All three finalists had Hanks on campus for an official visit in June, but five picks have been logged in favor of Billy Napier and Co. landing his pledge since the end of July.

“I know my dad had a legacy there. For me to go there, it would continue the legacy,” Hanks told Gators Online last month. “Florida has a great opportunity to get me. They have the coaching staff, the environment there, and it’s a winning program. The winning mentality there is amazing. Coach (Billy) Napier wants me to be a Gator, stay home, and continue the legacy.”
Miami has not taken its foot off the gas either, according to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons. The Hurricanes have long been a favorite in the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder’s recruitment and are looking to keep the blue-chip DB in the 305. Louisville has quietly remained in the race, getting Hanks to campus for multiple visits this year, too.
“The football campus is amazing. Coaches are great and the practice was good,” Hanks told On3 following an April trip to the Bluegrass.
