Back in March, Port Saint Lucie (Fla.) Vero Beach four-star linebacker Tarvos Alford chose Ohio State over in-state Miami.

Alford is still committed to the Buckeyes, but today he is back in Miami visiting the Hurricanes, he confirmed with On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

“Program definitely on a come up,” Alford told On3 about Miami ahead of its game against Florida A&M. “Home state team.”

Alford has visited Miami over half a dozen times.

“My answer was pretty much just that I felt that’s what God was leading me to at the time,” Alford told On3 back in April. “I still have major love for them, because they’re the crib, and I’ll always have major love for them and I’m still going to visit and stuff like that. But I just felt like that’s where God was leading me at the moment. … It was very difficult. I kind of knew that was where I wanted to go, but at the same time I had to ask myself, ‘Is that the best place for me? Is that the place I’m going to thrive at? Do I fit in the scheme?’ and things like that.

“There was a part of me that wanted to stay close to home, have my family at all of my games and things like that, so it was definitely difficult for me.”

Tarvos Alford Recruit Profile

Alford is the nation’s No. 68 overall prospect, No. 4 linebacker and No. 10 recruit from Florida in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3’s scouting and rankings team writes this about Alford as a prospect.

“One of the most physically imposing prospects regardless of position in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Measured in at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds with a freakish 6-foot-10 wingspan during summer campus visits. Easy sideline to sideline speed, closes to the ball extremely quickly. Has tested very well during the spring camp circuit. Impressive long speed on the track as well running 23.88 in the 200m as a sophomore and a strong 11.67 100m during his freshman track and field season.

Striker as a tackler, violent player. Comfortable as a space defender, especially in zone coverage. High upside prospect who should develop into an enforcer at the next level.”
