Class of 2023 three-star center Carter Lang tells On3 he’s down to Stanford and Vanderbilt.
The 6-foot-9, 220-pound big man out of Charlottesville (Va.) St. Anne’s-Belfield School also received offers from Illinois, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, Columbia, SMU, and others.
Lang took an official visit to Vanderbilt in mid-June, and unofficially visited Stanford last November. He says he plans to return officially this fall.
Lang is the No. 134 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also ranked as the No. 15 center in the class and the No. 5 prospect in the state of Virginia.

Vanderbilt: “Vanderbilt has a unique combination of high-level academics, a competitive basketball program, and is located in the heart of Nashville. The SEC is becoming a premier college basketball conference and Coach Stackhouse’s NBA style of play allows bigs to move freely within the offense and make decisions with the ball in their hands.”
Stanford: “Stanford is an elite academic university with a beautiful campus in the middle of Silicon Valley. They have been recruiting me for over a year and I have built a strong relationship with Coach Haase and Ehsan. Their style of play utilizes bigs and the PAC-12 is a power-5 conference.”
