The college recruitment process is fully underway for Loganville (Ga.) Grayson combo guard Gicarri Harris.

The 6-foot-4 junior has visited three schools so far; Purdue and Stanford both officially, as well as an unofficial trip to Georgia.

He recapped each of those visits in a recent interview with On3.

Harris recaps college visits

Purdue: “My visit to Purdue was great. I got to see everything on the campus such as the main gym, practice facilities, weight room, team dining room, and I got to watch the football game as well. I also got to hang out with a bunch of the players after their practice and was able to see what it’s like to be a student-athlete at Purdue, along with some current commits. My overall visit was a great experience! Purdue is in contact with me weekly and have also come to see me in person for games.”

Georgia: “I recently attended their game against Kentucky and Georgia got the win, so it was a great game for them and for the fans. I got to see the players and the postgame speech. I was able to talk to all the coaches. It was great watching them play against Kentucky. (Georgia) is great because it’s right down the street from my home. My parents and family can come watch me whenever. (The coaches) are in contact with me weekly and I have a great relationship with them.”

Stanford: “It was a great visit. I got to see pretty much everything. I got to watch their practice, go to a football game, went on a great campus tour and met some important people over there. Stanford offers tons of opportunities with basketball and after college. The best thing about Stanford, I feel like if you go there, you’re set for life.”

Future potential visits and commitment timeline

With three visits completed, Harris says he’s not done seeing schools. In fact, he’s looking at taking a pair of unofficial visits to two programs fairly close to home: Georgia Tech and Clemson. He discussed his tie to both universities.

Georgia Tech: “It’s a great program and local school. It would be easy to run into friends, former teammates and classmates there. Deivon Smith used to go to Grayson and it’s great to see him play at Tech. I know Miles Kelly too.”

Clemson: “It’s relatively close. Just a little over a two-hour drive so it’s not that far. I also have two former teammates there that are doing well, Ian (Schieffelin) and Chauncey (Wiggins).”

As far as official visits go, Harris is eyeing trips to Harvard, LSU, and possibly one other (TBD). Dates are in the works but have yet to be scheduled.

Harris, who holds 15+ scholarship offers, says the recruitment process has been enjoyable.

“There’s been a lot of coaches contacting me and I love hearing from everybody. They share great advice, insight, and vision about development to maximize my game for the next level. I appreciate how they value my style of play, efforts, and contributions and that they communicate the value that I will add to their program. I am enjoying the process of building a relationship with the coaches.”

Gicarri has plenty of time before he makes a decision. He is looking to narrow down his Top 8 this summer and he is aiming to make a decision this fall.
