LSU loses yet another commitment, this time coming from 2023 recruit Marvel Allen.

The 6-foot-4 combo guard out of West Palm Beach (Fla.) Calvary Christian is the third future Tiger to part ways with the program. On Friday, five-star senior Julian Phillips reopened his recruitment, as did four-star senior Devin Ree last week.

The news comes less than a week after the Tigers fired Will Wade following multiple Level 1 violations.

Allen ranks as the No. 19 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the 5th best combo guard in the class and the second-best player in Florida.

“I committed to LSU because of my relationship with Coach Wade and Nickelberry. Thank you to the rest of the LSU coaching staff and the fans for the support they showed me throughout my time I was committed. Wasn’t expecting to come to this point but I will decommitting from Louisiana State University and reopening my recruitment to all programs. I’m looking forward to finding my new home,” Allen said in a statement.

The Florida native chose the Tigers over a final group of Alabama, Kansas, Memphis, Georgia, Ohio State, Arizona State, and Maryland.

Prior to choosing the Tigers, Marvel Allen planned on visiting Alabama and Ohio State.
