Top-20 recruit Moustapha Diop commits to Georgia Tech
Moustapha Diop, the No. 1 ranked center in the 2026 class, told On3 he’s committed to Georgia Tech and head coach Damon Stoudamire.
The 6-foot-10 junior out of Overtime Elite in Atlanta chooses the Yellow Jackets over offers from programs like Ole Miss, Georgia, UCF, Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, Cincinnati, and others.
Diop, a four-star recruit, is the nation’s No. 16 overall prospect, No. 1 center and No. 2 recruit in Georgia in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Diop on his commitment to Georgia Tech
Moustapha Diop discussed his decision with On3.
“GT is a great basketball program that I believe will be one of the top schools in the country in a couple of years. I have been around the GT campus since my sophomore year, so I have been going to watch their practices every now and then. Also I really like how they treat their bigs. They get them involved on the offensive end and they trust them. They make them comfortable with the ball and let them ball out and I like that.”

What led to his trust in coach Stoudamire and the coaching staff?
“Like I said I’ve spent quality time around the staff and Stoudamire and that allows me to have a great relationship with them and being to trust them and their work.”
In his own words, what type of player is Georgia Tech getting in Moustapha Diop?
“A very athletic big that runs faster than anybody else on the court. Blocks, rebounds, can guard 1 to 5 even though I’m 6’11. I can switch ball screens as well, can catch and shoot 2 and 3s as well. Can play on my back and face up as well. Can put it on the floor too.”
