Top-25 EDGE Bai Jobe commits to Michigan State
The decision is in for of the most prolific defensive recruits in the 2023 recruiting cycle.
Bai Jobe, the No. 25 player in the nation on On3, provided some late fireworks during one of the busier weeks of the calendar with a commitment to Michigan State. Alabama and in-state Oklahoma were other finalists for the four-star Norman (Okla.) Community Christian EDGE defender originally from Senegal.
Development was a key reason why the Spartans won out for the elite EDGE defender from Oklahoma. During his official visit to East Lansing, defensive-minded coaches like Mel Tucker, Marco Coleman and Brandon Jordan stressed positional development, which put Michigan State in a different light than the rest of the contenders.
“I love Coach Marco (Coleman). He’s a great coach and I love it,” Jobe said. “I really like Coach B. Jordan and he’s one of the best pass-rush trainers in the country — and I need that. I need somewhere to be developed to the next level and show myself off. Coach Marco played in the league for more than 10 years. He knows a lot of stuff about the league to get me ready.”
During his official visit, the emphasis on not only football but life away from the sport provided clarity for Jobe as he inched toward the finish line of this decision.

“They’ve been really good to me and I really like them a lot,” Jobe said of the Michigan State coaching staff. “All I see over there are great people and great coaches, who care about human beings no matter what. I feel like they have great people over there.”
Jobe is the No. 1 player from the state of Oklahoma and the No. 9-rated EDGE defender in the country on the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
