Top-5 Evan Stewart leads big list of uncommitted receivers in 2022
College football’s early signing period is less than three months away, but plenty of talented players are still on the board, including a whopping 13 uncommitted receivers in the 2022 On300 rankings.
In total, 73 of the top 300 players in the country—just under 25 percent—have yet to announce their college commitments, but most of those will do so between now and December 15, when the first signing period officially opens. Skipping the spring semester of high school and enrolling early has become the norm in college football in recent years, with programs like Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma and others typically bringing in more than a dozen players after the semester break.
Four of the top five players in the 2022 class have yet to commit, including No. 1 overall player Marvin Jones Jr. On3 compiled notes and intel on all 73 uncommitted On300 prospects to keep you informed about where each player stands in their recruiting process.

Wide Receivers
Evan Stewart
Background: Frisco (Texas) Liberty
Ranking: On300 No. 5
Schools considering: Alabama, Florida, Texas, LSU
Latest intel: There are few players—regardless of position—who have garnered the amount of recruiting interest Stewart has. He is the top remaining uncommitted receiver, and each of the four programs listed above have made major pushes. He has a visit to Alabama scheduled for Nov. 6, and Texas is working very hard to get him back to a game after he visited in June.
Barion Brown
Background: Nashville (Tenn.) Pearl-Cohn
Ranking: On300 No. 14
Schools considering: Alabama, TCU, Kentucky
Latest intel: Brown is a bit more raw than Stewart as a receiver, but his pure straight-line speed puts him at an elite level. He was originally scheduled to make a commitment in August—with signs pointing toward the Tide—but that’s on hold for moment.
Brenen Thompson
Background: Spearman (Texas) High
Ranking: On300 No. 24
Schools considering: Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M
Latest intel: There was some smoke indicating Thompson could be headed to Clemson last spring, but that largely seems to have dissipated. Thompson recently visited Texas and still has a trip to College Station on the board, but this one looks like a two-team Lone Star State showdown.
Darrius Clemons
Background: Portland (Ore.) Westview
Ranking: On300 No. 56
Schools considering: Auburn, Penn State, Oregon
Latest intel: The Ducks already have four receivers committed, and after a visit to Auburn earlier this month, the Tigers seem to be the leaders here. However, don’t count Mario Cristobal and Co. out just yet.
Chris Marshall
Background: Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall
Ranking: On300 No. 61
Schools considering: Texas A&M, USC, Alabama, Arizona State
Latest intel: This spring, Marshall looked like he was bound for College Station, but a commitment never materialized. He visited Texas A&M and USC officially over the summer, and he tweeted Wednesday that he wants to take more visits.
Shazz Preston
Background: St. James (La.) High
Ranking: On300 No. 87
Schools considering: LSU, Texas, Alabama, Georgia
Latest intel: LSU looks to be the leader for the in-state speedster right now, but the potential uncertainty around head coach Ed Orgeron’s job security going forward could open the door for another program.
Antonio Williams
Background: Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork
Ranking: On300 No. 131
Schools considering: Auburn, Ole Miss, Clemson, South Carolina, Florida State, Notre Dame
Latest intel: The 6-foot, 180-pound Williams still as a lot to see before he recruitment becomes any clearer. After taking unofficial visits to South Carolina, Auburn and Ole Miss over the summer, he visited Clemson on Sept. 11. But as of now, he still has three officials to take, including a visit back to South Carolin this weekend.

Jayden Gibson
Background: Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange
Ranking: On300 No. 163
Schools considering: Baylor, Florida, Miami, South Carolina, Georgia
Latest intel: Gibson listed eight “finalists,” including the five mentioned above, in a tweet announcing that he’ll commit on October 13. Also in that list were Auburn, Florida State, and Tennessee. After a recent visit to The Swamp, the home state Gators look to be in prime contention.
Zavion Thomas
Background: Marrero (La.) John Ehret
Ranking: On300 No. 186
Schools considering: Florida State, Memphis, Mississippi State
Latest intel: After committing to Louisville on June 29, Thomas announced his decommitment on Sept. 10. He’s yet to take official visits, but he did see Florida State in July and shares quite a bit on Twitter from the Seminoles.
Kevin Coleman
Background: St. Louis (Mo.) St. Mary’s
Ranking: On300 No. 194
Schools considering: Florida State, USC, Oregon
Latest intel: Coleman visited Tallahassee for the Seminoles home opener on Sept. 4, and it was largely expected he’d commit after that. But he’s lined up an official visit to USC for Nov. 20, and Oregon is still in pursuit of him as well. He took an unofficial visit to Missouri in June, but nothing has progressed beyond that.
Luther Burden
Background: East St. Louis (Ill.) East St. Louis
Ranking: On300 No. 204
Schools considering: Missouri, Georgia, Alabama
Latest intel: Burden backed off his commitment to Oklahoma in August, marking the third 2022 On300 wideout to decommit from the Sooners. He spent a lot of time at Missouri this summer, visiting for multiple camps and unofficial visits. He recently named a top three of Alabama, Georgia and Missouri, and he plans to visit the latter two before he commits.
Dane Key
Background: Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass
Ranking: On300 No. 232
Schools considering: Kentucky, Oregon, South Carolina, Michigan
Latest intel: The hometown Wildcats have been in pursuit of Key for the better part of three years now, but they’ve got some serious competition from South Carolina and Oregon. Key took official visits to all three this summer, and this one still seems very much up in the air.
Andre Greene Jr.
Background: Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher’s School
Ranking: On300 No. 237
Schools considering: Georgia, North Carolina, Oregon, Clemson, Penn State
Greene was everywhere this summer, seeing Oklahoma, North Carolina, Texas A&M, Georgia, Clemson and Florida State. He’s already taken official visits to Oregon, UNC and Georgia, and it seems likely that Clemson will be fighting for one later this season.
