Glen Head (N.Y.) Long Island Lutheran four-star combo guard Kayden Mingo is down to four schools, he tells On3’s Joe Tipton.

Mingo will decide between Penn State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Georgia.

The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Mingo is the nation’s No. 44 overall prospect, No. 4 combo guard and No. 2 recruit from New York in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Mingo broke down his official visit to Penn State in early September.

“The visit was excellent overall,” Mingo told On3. “The energy at Penn State is second to none. The program is great, I really enjoyed watching their practice. The facilities were beautiful and they really impressed me also. The coaches told me they plan on me coming in and they want me to be their point guard and run the show.”

He continued.

“My interactions with the staff were great,” Mingo said. “We have all been building for a while now so getting to know more about each coach and meeting their families was excellent. I loved the fit and really enjoyed how Coach (Mike) Rhoades explained to me the vision he has in place for me.

Wake Forest:  “Coach (Steve) Forbes is my guy. He definitely lets his guards go and plays with a lot of freedom. He also definitely has pro experience with some of his guys. The ACC is a really good conference. The way that Coach Forbes lets his guards play and run the team and be the motor of the squad, I like that a lot.”

Virginia Tech: “They talk with me all the time, and they talk with my family. I love the relationship that we are building and I love how they play as well. The ball never sticks with them, if you are playing on or off the ball, it is going to find you.”

Georgia: Coach (Mike) White and Coach (Anthony) Goins, we talk a lot about how much my game fits with what they do and in the SEC. They tell me how much they let their guards play and it is against the high-level competition. We talk about the pro status that Coach White has with former players. The SEC is a high-level conference and the freedom they give their guards is interesting for me.”

Mingo played with the PSA Cardinals on Nike’s EYBL Circuit this summer, averaging 12.3 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.1 steals.
