Top-50 prospect Taylor Bol Bowen sets commitment date
Class of 2023 four-star prospect Taylor Bol Bowen tells On3 he will announce his college decision on Saturday, June 25th at 3pm ET.
The 6-foot-9 small forward out of Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy has taken one official visit to Florida State, and several unofficial trips to Providence and UConn. Iowa is also in the mix, despite not hosting Bowen for a visit.
Bowen is the No. 44 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Bowen is originally from Vermont but now attends Brewster (N.H.) Academy. During the summer he runs with Expressions Elite (Mass.) where he’s leading his team in points, rebounds, and blocks. So far this summer, he’s averaging 16.6 points on 58% from the field, 7.8 rebounds, and nearly two blocks a game.
Bowen talks schools
Florida State: “Coach (Leonard) Hamilton has shown a lot of love. That has been my biggest thing, getting recruitment from the top guy. I think what they have to offer will prepare me, and they have had a lot of guys similar to me.”

Iowa: “I saw what Keegan Murray and the Murray twins did there. I think I can emulate what he did this season and do something similar.”
Providence: “I think being at a Big East school and being almost home…Providence is like a second home to me. Corey (Wright) has been working me out since I was 14-15 when I first came out to Expressions. He let me stay with him and work out at Providence. That’s been huge in my development. So just working out there in the summers, it’s been like a second home to me.”
*Corey Wright’s father played at Providence in the late 1990s.
UConn: “The coaching staff is really good. Coach Hurley is a blue-collar coach. He’s going to get in you and that’s what I need. I need a player’s coach or a coach that’s going to be very much on me to get better. That’s ultimately how you get better, by not taking any shortcuts and continuing to improve.”
Bowen Scouting Summary
“Taylor Bol Bowen is a lengthy and athletic forward. He is an elite-level defensive player, able to slide his feet on the perimeter and switch down to guard on the block. Bol Bowen plays with outstanding balance and speed in the open floor. The offensive game is raw; he is becoming more confident in his jump shot, but the release is still inconsistent. The handle needs to become tighter to enable him to get to his spots. He has a reputation as a hard worker, and his defense can be truly game-changing.” – Jamie Shaw, On3’s National Recruiting Analyst
“I’m a very versatile player,” Bol Bowen recently told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “I can do a lot of different things on the court. I am just a ball player. I’ve worked a lot with my jump shot and handle; I can get to my spots better now. I watch a lot of players in college and the league and try to take from anyone 6-foot-8 or 6-foot-9, lanky, and athletic.”
