Top-50 recruit John Clark down to 6 schools
John Clark, a four-star power forward in the class of 2025, has cut his list to six schools: Houston, Kansas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M.
To this point in his recruitment, the 6-foot-9 rising senior out of Link Academy (MO) has taken unofficial visits to Houston, Texas A&M, and Texas.
The Houston native tells On3 he currently has three official visits scheduled:
- Texas A&M: August 30-September 1
- Houston: September 5-8
- Texas: September 13-15
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Clark is the No. 45 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. He’s also the No. 11 power forward prospect and the No. 4 player in Missouri. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Clark talks programs involved
In a recent interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, John Clark discussed several of the programs in the mix for his talents.
HOUSTON: “I like the way they developed their bigs. They developed Jarace Walker in one year to be a lottery pick, so their development and their coaching for sure stick out. I feel like they play through their bigs pretty well. A lot of their bigs are all-around players, so I feel like I fit in with that system with my versatility.”

TEXAS A&M: “They play through their bigs there and they allow them some freedom with their versatility. My relationship is with Coach (Lyle) Wolfe, but I really have a relationship with all four of the coaches there. They’re all great to me and my family.”
TEXAS: “I have a good relationship with Coach (Rodney) Terry. He always calls me, I talked to him right before this and he just told me to come out here and kill. I feel like I fit in really well with their playstyle. The facilities there are really nice and the players there are really cool. When I went on my unofficial, they all welcomed me with open arms, they have a lot of alumni there as well.”
OHIO STATE: “They’re new to my recruitment, but I like the relationship that I have with Coach (Jamall) Walker. He calls me a lot and texts me a lot. I feel like I fit what they like to do with their bigs. They like my versatility and that I’m aggressive and rebound the basketball.”
Scouting Report
“John Clark has a strong frame with nice length. Listed around 6-9, he can knock down a shot and rebound his area. All of this gives him a relatively high floor as he continues to progress in levels. He is a solid straight-line athlete. The hips are a little tight which slows his lateral movement a bit. Walls up well on the block and understands rotations, not a rim protector and has switchablity questions.Ike to see him develop some off the bounce. Become more of a threat from the elbows and wing areas. Can knock down a pick and pop shot and comfortable when his feet are set with solid balance points and a consistent release. He is a nice player who does some translatable things.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
