Top ACC commits in 2024

Many of the nation’s top recruits have chosen an ACC school to further their academic and football careers.

Saturday night, Five-Star Plus+ safety KJ Bolden added himself to the mix when he committed to Florida State. The Seminoles are one of three programs to have three five-star prospects pledged to their class.

Clemson and Miami round out the list of the 10 highest-ranked recruits committed to ACC programs. The ‘Noles, Tigers and Hurricanes are the three best ACC classes in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Rankings.

Below are the top 10 recruits committed to ACC schools and where they are heading.

Five-Star Plus+ S KJ Bolden — Florida State

School: Buford (Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 8
On3 NIL Valuation: $368K

Scouting Summary: KJ Bolden is one of more versatile athletes in the 2024 cycle with considerable upside as a safety. Measured in at 6-foot, 185 pounds prior to his senior season. Has good length with 32-inch arms. Posted strong track marks as a high school underclassman with a personal best of 10.76 seconds in the 100 meters. Also tests well in the combine setting. Plays both ways for Georgia powerhouse Buford High as a receiver and defensive back. Projects as a defensive back and likely at safety long-term, where his combination of athleticism and length makes him one of the nation’s best. Flashes outstanding play speed on Friday nights.

Closes quickly with physicality in defending the flats. Has shown good deep range in coverage both on Friday nights and in 7-on-7. Played a bunch of offense as a junior. Shows good playmaking ability and overall athleticism on that side. While his ball skills are good for a safety, they would need to improve were he to play offense in college. Has not replicated his impressive track times later in his high school career. Has a relatively smaller sample size relative to some of his highly-touted peers on defense heading into his senior season.”

5-star WR Bryant Wesco — Clemson

Scouting Summary: Bryant Wesco is a silky smooth route runner who can win at every level of the field due to his fluidity and explosiveness. Has a thin frame, measuring around 6-foot-2, 170 pounds with arms over 32 inches. Tests as a top athlete in the combine setting. Also displays his explosiveness in track and field with outstanding marks in the high jump (6-6) and triple jump (48-6) as a junior. Managed to put up big numbers as a junior, despite playing in an option offense. Caught 58 passes for 1,160 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2022.

Has positional versatility who can line up at the X, Z or inside at the slot. A loose, pigeon-toed mover who breaks off defenders with his change of direction. Extremely flexible and limber in his lower body. Stacks corners off the line with his releases. Has the speed to take quick passes to the house. Shows the ability to elevate and win contested catches. Skies to make in-air grabs. Has a thin, streamline frame that may not be conducive to adding much weight. Does not always attack the ball with proper hand placement. Has strong athletic genes with his father being an All-American track athlete at Louisiana Tech.”

5-star LB Sammy Brown — Clemson

Scouting Summary: Sammy Brown is a physically developed two-way star with an elite combination of size and athleticism. Has measured in at 6-foot-2.5 and around 230 pounds. One of the top jumbo athletes in the 2024 cycle with eye-popping marks as a sprinter. Was a state finalist in the 100 meters as a junior, consistently running in the 10.8-10.9 second range. Transfers that speed over the field where he stars as a running back and linebacker. A twitchy, fluid mover. Lines up as an inside linebacker for hi s high school. Flashes his top-end speed as an excellent pursuit defender. Runs sideline to sideline with ease. Showed improvement as a take-on defender as a junior. Closes quickly and finishes with physicality.

Shows outstanding conditioning and effort level as a two-way player. Has the long speed to pull away from defenders in the open field as a ball carrier. Good enough to play running back at the college level. Finished his junior season with 1,459 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns and 113 tackles and 1 interception on defense. A standout wrestler in addition to his exploits on the football field and track. Won a heavyweight state title as a junior. Extremely strong in the weight room with lifts that have gone viral. Very developed physically and may be closer to his ceiling than some others who have considerable room for growth. Has not looked overly instinctive in coverage in camp settings. One of the more established prospects at the position in the 2024 cycle given his elite athletic and multi-sport profile.”

5-star CB Charles Lester III — Florida State

Scouting Summary:Charles Lester III is a two-way standout as a receiver and cornerback who has one of the more intriguing upsides among the 2024 cornerback group. Measured at around 6-foot-1, 170 pounds prior to his senior season. Has unverified length. Hip fluidity and ball skills stand out. Shows the ability to consistently and naturally catch the football away from his frame. Can flip his hips with ease in man coverage. Breaks on the ball quickly in zone coverage. Flashes a high quality short area quickness and excellent trigger to the football. A willing tackler with solid physicality and ability to play in the box. High level ball production as a junior, picking off five passes. Also makes plays at receiver, showing off his ball skills and change of direction. A tough runner with the ball in his hands. Lacks verified top end speed.”

5-star TE Landen Thomas — Florida State

School: Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County

Scouting Summary: Landen Thomas is easily one of the most fluid movers in the entire 2024 cycle. Thomas has delicious movement skills that are rare for the tight end position. His ability to maneuver in and out of his routes with loose hips and buttery cuts is top tier amongst all pass catchers. Stands in at nearly 6-foot-4, 240 pounds with over a 6-foot-6 wingspan.

Can win at all levels on the field including vertically up the seam. Shows impressive flashes of acrobatic catch ability and a wide catch radius. Has some focus drops that he can clean up but has plus ball skills. Willing blocker but not a hammer in the run game. Can function as an in-line Y but not his wheelhouse. Will be an extremely reliable target at the next level and will constantly work himself open. One of the safest players in the country with top 100 NFL draft potential.”

4-star WR Joshisa Trader — Miami

School: Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep

Scouting Summary: Joshisa Trader is a savvy receiver with signs of a well-rounded skill set as he enters his junior season. Uses his natural shake and change of direction as a route-runner, where he is one of the more technically-advanced receivers early on in the 2024 cycle. Has shown the ability to break off defensive backs with his start-stop ability. A fluid, natural mover in the route and after-catch phases. Shows the ability to track the football downfield. Already has above average size at over 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds. Made big plays against big-time competition in South Florida on a consistent basis.”

4-star QB Luke Kromenhoek — Florida State

School: Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School

Scouting Summary: Luke Kromenhoek is a toolsy, strong-armed passer with some of the best physical attributes among quarterbacks in the 2024 cycle. One of the taller quarterbacks in the group with a prototypical build at 6-foot-3.5, 190 pounds with a 9.5-inch hand. Shows a very live arm on Friday nights and in the camp setting. Backed that up in the camp setting, where he showed one of the strongest arms at the Elite 11 Finals. Flashes a quick, natural release, generating considerable velocity with ease. Rips throws down the middle of the field on a line. Had several passes travel over 50 yards in the air as a junior. Can stretch secondaries with his arm strength. Delivers some nice passes on the on rollouts to his right and left. A good athlete at the position. Ran a 4.73 second 40-yard dash at the Elite 11 regional prior to his senior year.

Shows very encouraging reactive quickness and burst as a mover in evading the pass rush. Has upside as a runner with his quickness and speed and can pick up chunks of yards once at the second level. Unlike most other top 2024 quarterbacks, was a first-year starter as a junior, leading his team to a state title. Completed 65 percent of his passes for 2,576 yards and 24 touchdowns against 3 interceptions, while rushing for 453 yards and 7 scores. Played wide receiver and safety while backing up Auburn signee Holden Geriner as a sophomore. Can stand to improve his overall consistency and will likely see the game continue to slow down for him with more in-game reps. Older for the class, turning 19 years-old in January of his senior year. Has one of the higher upsides in the murky 2024 quarterback class.”

4-star RB Kam Davis — Florida State

School: Albany (Ga.) Dougherty

Scouting Summary: Kam Davis is a rocked up running back prospect that runs with violence and has nimble feet for someone with his physique. Measures in at 5-foot-9.5, 200 pounds. Jumped a 29.5-inch vertical and a 9-foot-1 broad jump during the spring camp circuit prior to his junior season. Excellent ability to make defenders miss in a phone booth. Possess tremendous leg drive and the ability to pull through arm tackles. Lacks ideal top end speed, more of a doubles guy than a homerun threat. High floor prospect who will always be a pain to bring down between the tackles. One of the top baseball prospects in the country who has top-tier MLB draft potential.”

4-star EDGE Marquise Lightfoot — Miami

School: Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood Academy

Scouting Summary:Marquise Lightfoot is an explosive EDGE prospect who stands out due to his athleticism and effort level on Friday nights. Measured in at over 6-foot-5, 220 pounds prior to his senior season. Has solid length for the position. A twitchy, quick athlete who turned in strong marks with his change of direction in the combine setting. Parlays that burst onto the field. Lines up both as a traditional defensive end and as a stand up pass rusher. Makes eye-popping plays in backside pursuit. Tracks down ball carriers from behind, making high-level individual plays.

Shows good first step quickness, darting into the backfield. Takes on blocks and works to hold his ground as a run defender. Plays with intensity and a high effort level. Productive as a junior, tallying 122 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 9 sacks. Also plays tight end, where he made some big plays as a pass-catcher. Will need to hone his pass rush technique at the next level as he is making most of his plays with pure athleticism and effort. Does not look to have an overly large frame, but has solid size at 220 pounds. Younger for the class with an April birthday.”

4-star RB Kevin Riley — Miami
