We have a new No. 1 in this week’s Resume Ranking. And I’m guessing the College Football Playoff selection committee will make the same move on Tuesday. As the season continues to play out, this resume ranking will start to mirror the College Football Playoff committed, unlike early in the season.

Georgia throttled Ole Miss 52-17 on Saturday night, causing the Bulldogs to leapfrog Ohio State for the top spot. A new addition to the top 10 resumes in college football is Missouri after the Tigers manhandled 36-7.

1. Georgia

It’s time to give the Bulldogs the top spot. Just after the Missouri team they beat last week crushed Tennessee, Georgia annihilated Ole Miss in Athens. The return of tight end Brock Bowers and offensive tackle Amarius Mims made Georgia as close to full strength offensively as it has been all season, and the result was scary.

2. Ohio State

I feel bad dropping the Buckeyes the same week they put it all together and throttled an overmatched opponent, but Georgia’s resume now looks just as good. Of course, Ohio State has a chance on Nov. 25 to add a signature win that could elevate the Buckeyes again.

3. Michigan

The Wolverines ground out a win at Penn State without suspended Jim Harbaugh. I don’t think the lack of throwing was a reflection on QB J.J. McCarthy. Michigan was dominant on the ground, and that was the most efficient way to win. We can’t say Michigan hasn’t played a quality opponent anymore, but we still might be able to say the Wolverines haven’t played a truly quality offense yet. That changes Nov. 25.

4. Florida State

The Seminoles needed until the end of the third quarter to take control against Miami, and their 27-20 win wasn’t as dominant as it could have been. But they’re still in position to go 13-0 and make the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2014.

5. Washington

The Huskies trailed Utah by four at halftime but took control in the third quarter. Michael Penix Jr. threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns, but it was the defense pitching a shutout in the second half that won the game.

6. Texas

Starting quarterback Quinn Ewers returned from a shoulder injury and the Longhorns raced past TCU for a half and then hung on for dear life. Texas needs to play a more complete game at Iowa State on Saturday, or the Big 12 could be plunged into chaos.

7. Alabama

The Crimson Tide look better every week, and they made a 49-21 win against Kentucky look easy. The SEC title game between Alabama and Georgia is set, and if both of them keep winning it should be epic.

8. Oregon

Bo Nix was great in a win against USC, but a lot of his teammates played sloppy in a nine-point win that should have been by a lot more. The Ducks will have to clean that up with Oregon State looming on Black Friday and a likely rematch against Washington in the Pac-12 title game.

9. Louisville

It wasn’t pretty, but the Cardinals survived Virginia on Thursday night. This week, Louisville will get a Miami team that has to go back to Tyler Van Dyke at QB following the injury to Emory Williams late in the Florida State game. This one and the Nov. 25 visit from Kentucky are losable, so the Cardinals need to stay on guard.

10. Missouri

The Tigers shook off a loss to Georgia and absolutely smashed Tennessee. This might have been the most impressive win of the Eli Drinkwitz era.
