Top Flight Invite: Elite Basketball Recruits descend on Las Vegas
The official start of high school basketball season is creeping up but hoops fans are in for a special treat this weekend with the Top Flight Invite in Las Vegas. The eight-team competition features not only some of the nation’s top teams but many of the nation’s top recruits in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes. Here is a breakdown of what to expect.
Players to Watch
5-star CG Robert Dillingham – Kentucky commit
Team: Donda Academy
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 8
The Skinny: One of Kentucky’s two five-star commits, Dillingham is a combo guard and one of the best players in the country at creating his own offense.
5-star PF Kwame Evans Jr. – Oregon commit
Team: Florida Eagles
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 11
The Skinny: One of many Florida Eagles players on this short list, Evans is a lengthy forward who can make an impact all over the floor.
5-star PF Sean Stewart – Duke commit
Team: Florida Eagles
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 13
The Skinny: Stewart is a player who always hustles and works hard. Those attributes translate really well to settings like this.
5-star SG Jared McCain – Duke commit
Team: Hoop Nation
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 18
The Skinny: McCain is a three-level scorer but his best work comes in the mid-range, where he has a litany of moves he can use.
5-star SF Mookie Cook – Oregon commit
Team: AZ Compass
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 19
The Skinny: A player with tremendous upside, Cook has the potential to end up as one of the best players in this recruiting class.
4-star CG Bronny James
Team: CBC
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 44
The Skinny: The most high-profile high school recruit in years, James has emerged as a really good prospect. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Ohio State as the favorite to land him.
4-star PF Asa Newell – 2024
Team: Florida Eagles
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 11
The Skinny: A left-handed shooter, Newell has the range to shoot it successfully from beyond the arc. But he also has the ability to make a large impact underneath the basket.

On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 12
The Skinny: Elohim is a confident driver of the basketball and isn’t afraid to do what he has to do to get to the hoop.
4-star SF Liam McNeely – 2024
Team: Florida Eagles
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 18
The Skinny: Coming from a family of basketball players, McNeely transferred this summer from Plano (Texas) John Paul II to Montverde Academy.
4-star PF Cameron Boozer – 2025
Team: Explorers
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 1
The Skinny: The son of former NBA forward Carlos Boozer, Cameron Boozer and his twin brother have emerged on the recruiting scene as prospects to know and watch.
4-star SF Cooper Flagg – 2025
Team: Florida Eagles
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 2
The Skinny: The early No. 1 in the 2025 On3 rankings, the debate between Flagg and Boozer has the potential to be of the most interesting in recent memory.

Because Top Flight Invite is a preseason tournament and the games don’t count towards official records, some high schools have to play under nicknames. Six of the eight high schools are playing under nicknames.

CBC = Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon
Explorers = Miami Christopher Columbus
Florida Eagles = Montverde (Fla.) Montverde Academy
Hoop Nation = Corona (Calif.) Centennial
LV Orange = Las Vegas Bishop Gorman
The two teams playing under their normal names are AZ Compass and Donda Academy.
