Naasir Cunningham is a 6 foot 7 175-pound small forward in the 2024 class attending Gill St. Bernard’s School in Peapack-Gladstone, NJ. Cunningham has offers from Creighton, Depaul, LSU, Maryland and New Mexico State. Cunningham updates On3 about his recruiting process.
Question: How would you describe your game to people who don’t know?
Naasir Cunningham: “Big guard. I’m able to shoot off the dribble. I have court vision: I’m a good defender. I have a complete all-around game.
Question: Is there anyone you model your game after? Or someone you compare yourself to?
Naasir Cunningham: “Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant for sure. I watch those guys all the time, and that’s who I try to model my game after.”
Question: So, as far as recruiting goes, what schools have been contacting you the most?
Naasir Cunningham: Many schools have contacted my coaches and parents, but I haven’t contacted them personally because my coaches tell me, and I like it that way. I’m just going to keep working, and hopefully, more keep calling.

Question: So what are you looking for in a school?
Naasir Cunningham: “A good balance between education and basketball. Also, a good history too behind the athletics, something I could look back on when I graduate and say yeah, I was a part of that”
Question: Would you consider the pro route like a G-league or Overtime League?
Naasir Cunningham: “It’s actually something I’ve been thinking about. My parents have been having many conversations with me about what I would have to do to prepare for it. People also have been in contact with my dad. “
Question: So it seems like you handle the court stuff. Everything else goes through your parents?
Naasir Cunningham: “Yeah, exactly everything goes through my parents.”
Question: Your season is coming up. What are you most looking forward to?
“Hopefully, win a state championship and even a national championship. We have the team to do it. My team is pretty stacked, honestly; I think we can do something special this year.”
