Top prospects shine at Texas state track and field meet
A number of top prospects in Texas shined at the Texas state track and field meet over the weekend. All told, there were more than 15 prospects ranked in the On300 in the classes of 2022, 203 and 2024 that competed for medals in Austin.

Brenen Thompson headlines 2022 prospects
Texas signee and On3 Consensus 4-star wide receiver Brenen Thompson took first in the 100 meters and 200 meters in 3A. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder won the 100 meters with a time of 10.24, and the 200 meters with a time of 20.73.
Pittsburgh signee Che Nwabuko turned in a sensational performance. The Austin area wide receiver prospect won gold in the 5A 100 meters with a time of 10.17. He followed up with a gold medal in the 200 meters with a time of 20.53. He also ran second leg on the Manor High 5A 4×100 (40.52) state champion.
SMU signee Pierre Goree took the 6A crown in the 100 meters with a time of 10.23. He anchored the 6A state champion Duncanville High 4×100 meter relay team, which popped a 39.98. Goree also ran second leg of the 6A 4×200 silver medalist team.
Houston signee C.J. Nelson placed seventh in the 5A triple jump with a mark of 45-03.25.
Minnesota signee and tight end prospect Nathan Jones took second the 3A shot put with a mark of 62.9.75. Jones took silver in the 3A discus with a spin of 176-5.
On300 for 2023 well represented
On3 Consensus 5-star linebacker Anthony Hill ran the third leg of the Denton Ryan High 5A silver medal 4×100 team. Hill has official visits scheduled to Oklahoma June 3-5, Alabama June 10-12, USC – June 17-19 and Texas – June 24-26. He also has an unofficial visit scheduled to Texas A&M – July 29-31.
On300 No. 171 Kalib Hicks ran the first leg of the Denton Ryan High 5A second place 4×100 relay team.
On3 No.2-ranked running back Rueben Owens took bronze in the 4A long jump with a mark of 23-02.25. Owens has an official visit set to Georgia June 17. Texas A&M and Texas are the teams to beat, along with the Bulldogs.
On300 No. 54 Derion Gullette ran the fourth leg fo the Marlin High 2A second place 4×100 relay. Gullette has an official visit scheduled to Texas June 24-26. Texas A&M, Alabama and Ohio State are expected to receive official visits as well. Gullette is likely to make a decision prior to his senior season.
On3 Consensus 4-star wide receiver and Notre Dame commit Braylon James placed seventh in the 6A 110m hurdles with a time of 14.33.
Former Arkansas verbal Anthony Evans took bronze in the 6A 200 meters with a time of 21.10. He also ran the first leg of the Converse Judson fifth place 4×400 relay team. Evans has official visits scheduled to Oklahoma June 3-5 and Georgia June 10-12.
On300 No. 81 Dalton Brooks took fourth in the 2A long jump with a leap of 21-11.5. Brooks also placed ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.20. Texas A&M has a sizable lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for the 6-foot-1, 185-pound safety prospect from Shiner High.
On3 Consensus 4-star wide receiver Jalen Hale ran the first leg of the Longview High fourth place 4×100 relay team.

On300 No. 281 Jordan Sanford took seventh in the 5A 100 meters with a time of 10.57. He also ran the second leg of the Mansfield Timberview sixth place 5A 4×100 meter relay team.
Michigan State running back commit Kedrick Reescano took silver in the 5A triple jump with a mark of 48-01.5.
Bay City athlete Brice Turner took the 4A 100 meters with a time of 10.25. He also took gold in the 200 meters with a time of 21.04.
2024 prospects showed well
On3 Consensus 4-star Terry Bussey competed in three events at the state meet. He took bronze in the 2A 100 meters with a time of 10.66. The 6-foot, 170-pounder took second in the 2A triple jump with a leap of 45-10.75. Bussey also ran the second leg of the Timpson High third place 4×100 relay team.
On300 No. 48 Jelani Watkins won the 6A 200 meters with a time of 20.78. He also ran on the Golden Eagles state champion 4×200 relay team, and silver medalist 4×100 relay team.
On3 Consensus 4-star safety Corian Gipson ran the final leg of the Lancaster High third place 5A 4×100 (40.88) relay team. He also ran the fourth leg of the Tigers 5A 4×400 relay team that placed fifth.
Lindale 4-star IOL Casey Poe won gold in the 4A shot put with a mark of 57-4.75.
On3 Consensus 4-star running back Taylor Tatum ran the second leg of the Longview High fourth place 4×100 relay team.
On3 Consensus 4-star receiver Freddie Dubose Jr. placed eighth in the 6A triple jump with a mark of 45-8.75.
Beckville High running back J’Koby Williams won gold in the 2A 110m hurdles with a time of 14.41. He took the double winning the 300m hurdles with a time of 39.21.
Katy Taylor tight end Ian Flynt placed sixth in the 6A discus with a toss of 166-3.
Refugio High athlete Ernest Campbell took gold in the 2A 100 meters with a very impressive time of 10.32. Campbell also anchored medalist 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams.
Athlete Karson Gordon placed fourth in the 6a triple jump with a leap of 49-3.75.
