Now that the coaching carousel has likely — never say never — come to a stop, some of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2022 class are coming off the board. In the past month, eight of the country’s top 115 prospects committed to new schools or recommitted to their previous ones. Another prospect reclassified into 2023.

But there’s still no shortage of talent left among the high school ranks. One five-star is still unaccounted for, as are eight more prospects ranked as four-stars by the On3 Consensus. With the transfer portal in full effect and recruiting periods back open as of last weekend, expect things to heat over even more over the next few weeks and months.

Top uncommitted prospects

SF Julian Phillips
School: Blythewood (S.C.) Link Year Prep
Consensus Ranking: No. 16
NIL Valuation: $11.4K

The Skinny: Phillips chose LSU over finalists USC, Florida State and Tennessee the first time around. Those schools are involved again, along with Auburn, Gonzaga, and South Carolina.

SF Tyrell Ward
School: Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha
Consensus Ranking: No. 35
On3 NIL Valuation: $8.1K

The Skinny: Ward was locked in with Xavier until the firing of head coach Travis Steele. Prior to inking with the Musketeers, he considered LSU, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Miami, Xavier, Maryland, and Georgetown. Of note, his former high school coach at DeMatha Catholic, Mike Jones, is now the associate head coach at Virginia Tech. It also wouldn’t be a surprise to see new coach Sean Miller, one of the country’s elite recruiters when he was at Arizona, try to bring Ward back in the fold.

Adrame Diongue
School: Scottsdale (Ariz.) Compass Prep
Consensus Ranking: No. 59
On3 NIL Valuation: $15.3K

The Skinny: Diongue named a top five of Kentucky, UNLV, Kansas, Texas Tech, and Washington State. He was high school teammates with current Wildcats guard TyTy Washington, but Diongue does not currently hold an offer from the ‘Cats. He still has all five official visits available, so it could be some time before he makes a final decision.

“I want to go somewhere they can develop me as a player,” he told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “I have only played basketball for three years, so development is huge for me. I’ll look at how they use their bigs and the style they play too.”

SG Riley Kugel
School: Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips
Consensus Ranking: No. 67
On3 NIL Valuation: N/A

The Skinny: Prior to choosing the Bulldogs, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Orlando Dr. Phillips considered a final group of Auburn, Houston, Miami, Florida Gulf Coast, and the Overtime Elite League. As it stands today, Florida is the favorite to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

PF Jalen Reed
School: Castaic (Calif.) Southern California Academy
Consensus Ranking: No. 68
On3 NIL Valuation: N/A

The Skinny: Reed committed to the Gators in late October, before signing during the early period in November. He chose Florida over Ole Miss, Arizona State, Maryland, and Oklahoma. But when head coach Mike White left for Georgia, Reed decided to reconsider his options and open things back up.

Fredrick King
School: NBA Academy Latin America
Consensus Ranking: No. 96
On3 NIL Valuation: N/A

The Skinny: The 6-foot-10, 220-pound King committed to the Cardinals in November over offers from Creighton, Washington State, Georgetown and Miami, among others. However, with head coach Chris Mack departing and new coach Kenny Payne taking over, King has reopened his recruitment.

PF Ezra Ausar
School: Snellville (Ga.) Liberty Heights
Consensus Ranking: No. 103
On3 NIL Valuation: $15.3K

The Skinny: Ausar is a late riser in the 2022 class, checking at No. 103 in the On3 Consensus. Texas A&M, Wichita State and UMass are among the schools involved with him.

SF Devin Ree
School: Terry (Miss.) Oak Hill Academy
Consensus Ranking: No. 109
On3 NIL Valuation: $14K

The Skinny: Ree was another of LSU’s signees that opted to reopen his recruitment after Will Wade’s recent firing. He picked the Tigers over a laundry list of high-major schools that included Texas, Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

But Louisville and Auburn have both been in consistent contact with him since the decommitment, and Georgia, Texas and Texas A&M are also in the mix.

PF KyeRon Lindsay
School: Denton (Tex.) Guyer
Consensus Ranking: No. 115
On3 NIL Valuation: N/A

The Skinny: The 6-foot-8, 205-pounder announced on Monday that he was reopening his recruitment after signing with UNLV in the fall after his lead recruiter, Carlin Hartman, took a job at Florida. He chose the Rebels over Georgia, Oklahoma State and Tennessee, but there could be a long list of schools involved for Lindsay. Last summer, he averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game in Nike’s most prestigious summer event, Peach Jam in July 2021, earning First Team All-EYBL honors.
