Tempers may have cooled as Colorado has drawn even with Baylor in the third quarter. But two-way star Travis Hunter wasn’t playing his cards close to the chest for a bit on Saturday night.

With the Buffaloes trailing, 24-17, at the time and having not scored in the half to that point, Hunter was seen on the sideline taking off his helmet and appearing to want to slam it down. While he restrained himself from that as the Buffaloes sent the punt team out, he appeared to be pleading for answers as to why Colorado was calling the plays it had — with varying degrees of potential profanity.

“What are we doing?” Hunter said, apparently.

Hunter had six receptions for 126 yards as of the end of the third quarter. He also had a TFL while on defense.

Hunter probably isn’t upset after a wild finish in Boulder

Colorado is back in the Big 12 and hosted Baylor for its first game back. As the clock ticked down to zero — and even read zero — the Buffaloes appeared to be heading to 0-1 in conference play. One last heave from Shedeur Sanders was all they had after Will Sheppard dropped what could have been the game-tying touchdown.

Sanders went back to the left side of the field and launched one into the endzone. Somehow, he connected with wide receiver LaJohntay Wester to put Colorado within an extra point of tying the guy. An incredible play from Sanders and Wester, sending Folsom Field into a frenzy.

Despite Baylor’s best attempt to freeze Colorado on the PAT, the kick went through the uprights. Overtime football is going to be played in Boulder as the Buffaloes look to pull off a miracle on Saturday night.

And once overtime began, the Buffaloes turned the screws on a win. On the opening possession, Colorado quickly marched in for a go-ahead touchdown before the defense went to work.

A goal-line forced fumble by none other than Hunter himself kept Baylor from tying (and potentially playing for the win with a 2-point try) and sent the crowd that stayed late into the night another two notches higher.

With the win, Colorado moves to 3-1 and finds itself in a familiar spot to last year: Looking in strong position to make a bowl. If the 2024 Buffaloes can finish stronger than last year, that should be in the cards.
