TreVeyon Henderson may be a true freshman, but after another phenomenal outing in Ohio State’s much-needed dominant win over Maryland, the legend continues to grow.

The true freshman has only played in five collegiate games and is a long way from thinking about playing professionally, but that didn’t stop one long-time NFL Draft analyst from chiming in giving his thoughts on the young Buckeye during today’s performance.

Dane Brugler on TreVeyon Henderson

Ohio State has always been known for producing great running backs, from Ezekiel Elliott to back in the days of Maurice Clarett and Eddie George.

The No. 1 overall running back from last year’s recruiting class certainly looks the part to be the next Buckeye to make his name known in the backfield in Columbus….and maybe beyond.

TreVeyon Henderson and Ohio State offense explode

CJ Stroud and the Ohio State offense finally had the explosive, breakout game against a reputable opponent that fans have been yearning for. The unit put up an eye-popping 598 yards of total offense, had no turnovers and didn’t punt a single time in the 66-17 drubbing.

Henderson showcased his dual-threat ability, closing out the day with three total touchdowns. The true freshman surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark for the second time in his young career but now has 10 touchdowns on the year in just five games (and he saw limited action in the opener vs. Minnesota).

Ohio State clearly has a bevy of weapons at receiver. Chris Olave led the charge with 120 yards and two touchdowns, while axon Smith-Njigba added five catches for 103 yards. Garrett Wilson scored twice on five catches for 84 yards, and Henderson added another through the air.

If Stroud and the Buckeyes keep this chemistry throughout the season on offense, it will be a nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators attempting to stop them.

TreVeyon Henderson already catching eyes outside of Columbus

Heading into Saturday’s game, the Hopewell Va. native had already been added to the official Maxwell Award Watch List and led the entire FBS for most rush yards in a game this season for his 277-yard outing in Ohio State’s win over Tulsa.

Ohio State fans should be thrilled. Stroud had his best outing in his young career as a starter, while TreVeyon Henderson continued to prove why he was the top running back available coming out of high school in 2020.

Maryland entered the matchup with a (4-1) record that included impressive wins over West Virginia and Illinois before the massive loss to No. 3 Iowa last week.

This wasn’t a cupcake win. The Terrapins have talent across the board so if the Buckeyes continue to play like they did on Saturday, the sky is the limit for Ryan Day’s young squad.
