Tulane quarterback and former Oregon quarterback Ty Thompson has officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday evening, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Coming out of high school, Thompson was tabbed as a five-star prospect and the No. 31 overall prospect in America, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2021 cycle.

It’s important to note that Thompson will still play in the Green Wave’s bowl game against Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl. The game will be his first career start and a key showcase for his career moving forward.

True freshman quarterback Kellen Tasby is the only other remaining scholarship quarterback for Tulane. The Green Wave’s starting quarterback, Darian Mensah, has moved onto the Duke Blue Devils in the transfer portal. He completed 65.9% of his passes for 2,723 passing yards, while tossing in 22 touchdowns with six interceptions. As a runner, he had 60 carries for 132 yards and one touchdown.

Before joining Tulane, Ty Thompson played in five games with the Oregon Ducks in the 2023 season, completing 24 of 31 passes, while tossing in four touchdowns and one interception. In 2022, Thompson played in seven games with the Ducks, completing 11 of 20 passes for 72 yards, attempting passes in five different games.
