Ty Lockwood: 4-star 2023 tight end commits to Ohio State
Thompson’s Station (Tenn.) Independence four-star tight end Ty Lockwood committed to Ohio State Thursday afternoon, picking the Buckeyes over Penn State, South Carolina and Florida State.

The 6’5 225 TE from Thompson’s Station, TN chose the Buckeyes over Penn State, FSU, & South Carolina.
He is the first Commit in Ohio State’s 2023 Class.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder tight end visited Ohio State back in June and really enjoyed it.
“My visits were both phenomenal,” Ty Lockwood said. “The campus is beautiful and the people are great. It was good to get up there and meet the players and coaches on the visits.”
Relationships key for Ty Lockwood
Ty Lockwood said the relationships he has with the Ohio State coaches played a vital role in choosing the Buckeyes.

“My relationship with all of the coaches are really strong,” Ty Lockwood said. “We know each other pretty well and can talk very easily. They have been in contact a lot and have shown a ton of love.”
When it came time to make his decision, Ty Lockwood said Ohio State checked every box.
“I chose Ohio State University because I feel like they are the best fit for me in everything,” Lockwood said. “Academic wise, football wise, and cultural wise.”
Ty Lockwood is the first commit in the Ohio State 2023 class.
