Tyler Brown, Peter Woods injury updates: Dabo Swinney on Week 5 status
Clemson pounded NC State on Saturday, despite being down two of its top players. Defensive lineman Peter Woods and receiver Tyler Brown both missed the game as they are dealing with injuries.
Tigers coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on where the two are during his press conference on Tuesday.
“They’re doing well. They’re still day-to-day, but they’re doing well. Getting better every day,” Dabo Swinney said.
Peter Woods is one of the top defensive linemen in the ACC. The sophomore led Clemson with 2.5 tackles for loss entering Saturday’s game against the Wolfpack. He was out with a knee injury.

Woods didn’t dress out or go through warmups on Saturday, while Brown dressed out and did some light work during pregame before officially being ruled out.

“T was close, yep. I think he did pregame,” Swinney said. “We were just kind of seeing where he was and it’s good for him to get out there. But he wasn’t quite ready. And Peter we knew wasn’t going to be available for that one based on where he is. So again, just still day-to-day, and hopefully he’ll be ready to go this week.”

Adam Randall injury update: Dabo Swinney reveals Clemson WR will miss time with broken bone
In addition to Tyler Brown, another Clemson receiver is banged up in Adam Randall.
“Adam Randall, awesome, and what you don’t know about Adam Randall is he broke his foot last Monday,” Swinney said postgame. “He’s got a little stress fracture in his toe, but he really wanted to play this game. So we’ve known since last Monday that this Monday we gotta put a screw in his toe.”
Despite having a broken toe, Randall caught five passes for a career-high 69 yards on Saturday to lead the Tigers. He also caught the first touchdown pass of his career from his quarterback and roommate Cade Klubnik. The junior QB embraced Randall, along with the rest of his teammates, following a score that unfortunately won’t be replicated for a few weeks.
“So he’ll be out for at least a couple of ball games,” Swinney added. “He’s always been a great healer, but we’ll see where he is. We’ve got four games and an open date, I think his hope is to be back for Virginia, but if not certainly by the open date.”
Clemson is set to play Virginia on Oct. 19, and the Tigers have a bye on Oct. 26.
