After UCF sent an email to season ticket holders about selling on the secondary market, athletics director Terry Mohajir released a statement clarifying the message. He made it clear no one is in danger of losing their season tickets.

In the initial email, as reported by the Orlando Sentinel, the school warned some season ticket holders they would not be eligible for relocation of their seats in 2025. The email went to about 10% of season ticket holders, according to the report.

Mohajir said the email went out to about 600 accounts, although some were “misidentified as ticket brokers,” according to his statement. He added no one is losing their seats or their discounts, and the note “missed the mark” about “clearly communicating” the message.

“For those of you who received the email from our ticket office, I apologize for any confusion it has caused,” the statement read, in part. “To be clear, no season ticket holder is losing their seats or discounts. Our intent is to prioritize dedicated fans by offering upgrade opportunities to those who actively use their tickets before potential brokers, while also accommodating as many fans as possible from our 2,500-seat waitlist. As the stadium evolves, we want UCF fans in our best seats.

“Our goal has always been – and will continue to be – to make FBC Mortgage Stadium the best possible environment for our team to compete in and win, and with an atmosphere that feels like home for our passionate Knight fans. We have already started and will continue to contact season ticket holders who received the email to help clarify the intent or answer questions.”

UCF’s email to season ticket holders

In its email to season ticket holders about relocation eligibility, UCF made it clear the athletics department doesn’t allow tickets to be sold on the secondary market. The message also said fans who have season tickets should resell or transfer them through the school if they can’t make it to the Bounce House.

“Based on your resale and/or transfer activity during the 2024 football season, your account has been identified as having high secondary market activity. To maintain the integrity of the priority point system and seat relocation process, your account will not be eligible for seat relocation for the 2025 season,” the email read, per the Orlando Sentinel.

“UCF Athletics encourages season ticket members to resell or transfer tickets through their UCF Athletics Account Manager page if they cannot attend an event. However, to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for season ticket members, UCFAA strictly prohibits secondary market activities that could undermine the value and integrity of season tickets.”

UCF is getting ready for the second go-round with Scott Frost as head coach following Gus Malzahn’s departure for Florida State. The Knights went 4-8 in their second season in the Big 12, including just a 2-7 mark in conference play before Malzahn stepped down. They will start the 2025 season at home against Jacksonville State Aug. 28.
